Rain is just an extra rinse. If you look at it that way it's not so bad, but you do need some dry and sunny weather sometime. In Wales washing can stay on the line for days waiting for that dry spell.

    1. Caught up on US eagle & NZ albatross nest cam videos. Pic below taken during feeding/brooding changeover. Albatross live 50-60 years, mate for life, & appear very affectionate with one another & offspring. In this sequence, the mom was reluctant to leave her chick for seafood foraging. (Y/T Lady Hawk, NZ DOC, Cornell Labs)

    2. Sunny, warmer day and lunch outside with the jays & squirrels.

    3. Found a hidden treasure chest of oldies-but-goodies free Y/T movies.

Thank you for that lovely view of the albatross. Hope they are able to rear their chick ok.

    1. Explored the bird box trail in the woods. All boxes looking in good repair. Hopefully they will soon have residents.
    2. Fluffy dog enjoyed bed making today. This consists of turning her bed over and rolling it round the room.
    3. An old work colleague had left a message on my phone. I am looking forward to getting back in touch with her.

    1. It was not raining so hard today so we had our walk in the hills. Got rather damp but we all felt much better for getting out.
    2. Treated myself to a bowl of hyacinths.
    3. Long tailed tits were on the feeders today. They are most attractive birds, but rather elusive.

    1. Heavy rain today, glad I did not to have to drive.
    2. All cats decided not to venture out today. They look so peaceful when sleeping. It's relaxing just looking at them relax.
    3. The camellias have started flowering despite the chilly rain.

Freeports seem to be going under the radar in the UK media...

Freeports are intended to be special unregulated investment zones where the normal rules do not apply. The zones cover some large areas.

The idea is based on the old concept of charter cities, another way for big business to profiteer & money launder, potentially forcing workers into indentured labour without rights or regulation. 1/4

Thank you for the maps Tato. I am worried about the environmental impact as Humber's dredging operation released toxic waste in sludge that caused shellfish deaths. The Moray area in Scotland is I know a 'green' freeport, but will that be any better for the local wildlife? Moray is a site of special scientific interest with an abundance of cetaceans, bird life, seals etc. I would like to know a lot more about their proposals and what controls (if any) are in place to protect.

    1. Fluffy dog enjoyed some leaf chasing today. She's been a bit quiet due to a back problem, but on today's walk she was mischievous and having fun again.
    2. Trip into town for my husband to get new spectacles. Heavy rain has come on since we got home, very glad that we are not driving in this downpour.
    3. Looked through some postcards I have collected from various art galleries over the years. Lovely to see all my favourite paintings!

    2. Elderly cat's food supply, for the rest of the month, was delivered today.

    1. Chat with other dog walkers. Now we understand why one path we all use has been blocked. A short stretch is privately owned and the owners just don't want ramblers on their land. Good to meet up with others who feel the same way, a bit of mutual support.
    2. Snowdrops are at their best now. Lovely to see them.
    3. Making some (slow) progress with a jigsaw. Found a bit of time to work on it today.

    1. I'm still enjoying learning German. It's a challenge, but a good one.
    2. Harvested some of the leek crop. They are home grown, and rather small but tasty.
    3. A red kite was flying over our garden during the morning.

    1. The grey cat had an injury but it has healed well with antibiotics. He is back to his normal cheeky self.
    2. Have all the vegetable seeds needed for this Spring. Planting plan done, so all is ready in good time.
    3. Visited a friend, we caught up on news over a cup of tea.

    1. I had an endoscopy and went to see the consultant yesterday. Hence 3goodthings were missing yesterday. The good thing is there is no trace of cancer. Still needs treating, but it's a much better outcome than it might have been.
    2. My large rubbish items are being collected today.
    3. Had a good night's sleep.

    1. Onion sets all planted.
    2. A quiet walk in the woods.
    3. A sparrow hawk is active in the garden (not such good news for the little birds, but a good sign regarding the health of the general ecosystem here).

    1. My 3 cats and my dog. Unconditional love and empathy on four legs.
    2. The 18 year old cat needed some softer food. I have at last found one she likes. Nice to have a clean plate after meals!
    3. A good night's sleep.

#MorningAll & #TZAG G’day Squirrel Fans, hope I find you bright eyed & bushy tailed!

So today we’re off to the lowlands of Lancashire to celebrate my nephews’ 18th birthday. I would be more excited but he is somewhat of an ungrateful, spoiled thing so we don’t really get on.
Still gotta welcome him to adulthood I guess !

    Have a cracking Saturday #Today & remember #RuleNo111:Never drink & ride a cow !

⚖️I’ve made a good job of the work/life balance thing this week.

🚮Went through a kitchen cupboard and disposed of all the horribly out of date foods.

🗑️We eventually managed to locate our wheelie bin that had migrated rather a long way down the street while being emptied.

    1. Seeing my cats stretching out in the sun today. It was cool, but in a sheltered spot they were in heaven.
    2. Saw two roe deer on the morning walk.
    3. Still excited about that barn owl yesterday. Hope it comes back for another feed.

Even with sunglasses I struggled with the low angle of the sun. My husband had a baseball cap on. That worked better than my sunglasses.

    1. I have sorted out some obsolete items and arranged a large item collection.
    2. A barn owl was quartering our field late this afternoon. This is the first time that we've seen one here. Tawny owls are always about, but not barn owls. This is really exciting.
    3. Burn's night. Vegan haggis for lunch, with neeps and tatties of course.

    1. Jocelyn proved to be the one storm, out of the nine we've had this Winter, that actually did cause some damage. It caused a power surge that finished off our new cental heating control panel. The good news was, we were not without heating for too long, as an electrician was able to come out today. We need a more modern fuse box to cope with power surges.
    2. Fluffy dog's long coat doesn't need central heating!
    3. We found no structural damage on the property.
