Inspired by a recent post by @chriscoyier and a pen by @argyleink, I’ve started hacking together a tool for finding out how two colors gradientize in the various CSS color spaces.

I think this may be how the gods have chosen to destroy me.

@svgeesus @seldo @chriscoyier @argyleink If I change the bottom stop to hsl(240deg,0%,89.99%) the gradient shifts to look a lot more like LCH, albeit peachier (?). 89.999% looks indistinguishable to me from 90%. https://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/color-spaces/ if you want to have a go yourself.

(I literally coded this in about an hour after lunch, layout reworks included, so I won’t apologize for its primitive UX… but be forewarned.)

okLCH appears stochastic, but differently stochastic between Chrome Canary and Safari Technology Preview, at least for me. That’s it, I’m going to bed now.

@jsit @davatron5000 @gruber I honestly think the core syntax makes sense — it’s a bang-prefixed version of hyperlink syntax, where alt text is in place link text and the URL of the resource follows in parentheses.

It’s just that Markdown Actual was written to be super-stripped-down, in an era when images didn’t usually need much more than alt and source (and it speaks well of John that he accounted for alt text back then!).
