MicrowavedTea,

If you’ve come across the short story Guts at some point, it’s apparently part of the book Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. I haven’t read the whole book so not sure what the other stories are like but this story is really trying to be both gross and fucked up.

MicrowavedTea,

I looked it up again when writing this comment and even though most reviews are negative they do make it sound pretty interesting. I’ve put it in a maaaybe list.

MicrowavedTea,

When was “originally”? Lyric availability is the main reason I chose spotify over YouTube music. If it’s not included in the free plan then you can’t compare that and won’t pick spotify.

MicrowavedTea,

Pay for it after trying the free version. Both spotify and YouTube music are terrible on the free version.

All the ways streaming services are aggravating their subscribers this week (arstechnica.com)

Below is a look at the most exasperating news from streaming services from this week. The scale of this article demonstrates how fast and frequently disappointing streaming news arises. Coincidentally, as we wrote this article, another price hike was announced....

MicrowavedTea,

Why does it feel like lately more and more articles fit Not The Onion or A Boring Distopia?

MicrowavedTea,

Last time I opened a new Google account ~2019 I noticed if you did it from some countries it didn’t ask for a phone number (even on a vpn). I remember Greece and Romania being two of them. It’s been a while since then but it’s worth a try. But you also had to receive an email within a few a hours otherwise it asked for a verification. This was all through trial and error so take it with a grain of salt of course.

Is Android increasingly inconsistent?

I feel like I’m encountering weird little tics and problems with my android devices, and those of family and friends. Just simple things where settings don’t seem to be consistently applied, or the os switches something back repeatedly. For example, my apps are set to auto update, to use data as well as WiFi, etc, but every...

MicrowavedTea,

I don’t know if it’s increasingly. Auto update has never worked consistently for me on any android device. It also seems most people have an issue with at least one messaging app not getting notifications. It’s just with the changes in each version things break slightly differently every time.

MicrowavedTea,

Qué te pareció la serie? La verdad, no me gustó mucho ese libro pero estoy pensando en verla.

MicrowavedTea,

I’ve had that issue with windows. Will also see myself out.

Is anyone using VMware under a Wayland host?

I’ve been using VMware Player (free version) for a while now and it’s been working fine. Recently I switched to Wayland and VMware’s grab input behavior broke. The guest gets most keys correctly but Alt and Super are intercepted by the host. Clicking on the vm also gives me a remote desktop popup on the host prompting to...

MicrowavedTea,

Interesting, I didn’t know about virt-manager. I might try one of those, thanks for the suggestion.

MicrowavedTea,

Honestly, I was forced to use it for a project and then just stuck with it for its simplicity

MicrowavedTea,

Sadly that means the second screen not working properly

MicrowavedTea,

If you don’t need many features it’s easier to quickly set up and create a vm than VirtualBox. Well until now anyway. I haven’t tried the other alternatives mentioned here, they might be better in that aspect too.

MicrowavedTea,

Sorry gotta disagree here. I know several people who use Workstation professionally. Even on Linux

MicrowavedTea,

Also if you go with git instead of github you should use git’s icon

MicrowavedTea,

I’m not from Spain and always saw Estrella as “the spanish beer”. Really surprised it isn’t here. What is Mahou?

MicrowavedTea,

I want to say Estrella Galicia but I’ve probably seen Estrella Damm in more places. I think I’ve had both outside of Spain

MicrowavedTea,

I’ve only used ChatGPT and it’s mostly good for language-related tasks. I use it for finding tip-of-my-tongue words or completing/paraphrasing sentences. Basically fancy autocorrect. It’s also good at debugging stuff sometimes when the language itself doesn’t give useful errors (looking at you sql). Other than that, any time I’ve asked for factual information it’s been wrong in some way or simply not helpful.

MicrowavedTea,

I’d say anything up to a third floor is ok, you just get used to it. I’m only on the first but my walk to the supermarket does include a ~2 floor staircase and don’t think that much of it anymore. It still feels awkward when you get something big delivered and wonder if they’ll bring it up the stairs though.

MicrowavedTea,

Is this actually collecting data? I’d guess it uses the phone’s local biometric authentication.

Linking Fediverse identities

When posting from Lemmy in my profile I can look for all of my posts but when I reply to a comment from, let’s say, a Mastodon account is not shown as my post because it was created from another account. Is there any way to link my accounts, at least in Lemmy, to show that all posts from a different account belong to the same...

MicrowavedTea,

It also seems like mastodon follows a “named” culture while lemmy an anonymous/pseudonymous culture. Similar to twitter and reddit. It doesn’t feel right to mix those

MicrowavedTea,

Relaxing when in a distance. Super annoying when there’s a lot of them close to you.

MicrowavedTea,

Using Eternity and can confirm, I have the same behavior. But when going to the user’s profile there is an option on the three dots menu to send a private message which seems to work (but I didn’t click send).

MicrowavedTea,

Did you get the card online? Or do you have to actually go to Kentucky to get their library card?
