MicrowavedTea,

Especially useful when the specific thread is now the first result on Google.

MicrowavedTea,

In the house - in a heartbeat (28 days later theme). It sounds oddly motivating.

MicrowavedTea,

I’d ask what I’m looking at here but feel I might regret it

MicrowavedTea,

Ok I don’t completely get the use case but that’s…impressive. Thanks for the detailed explanation and good luck moving it forward

MicrowavedTea,

I don’t know if the question comes from there but that’s the exact plot of White Christmas in Black Mirror. I’d say if you build something with the ability to suffer then its suffering matters. Not sure how you would prove that though.

MicrowavedTea,

I don’t remember the name but there was an energy bar with the flavor a specific juice that got really popular at some point when I was a kid. I think they suddenly discontinued it due to ingredients causing cancer. I had eaten so much of it that it was a bit worrying.

I swear there was a lollipop brand that looked like chupa chups or chupa chups themselves used to have a different flavor because they were the only lollipops I liked but can’t find them anywhere after leaving middle school so I guess they stopped making them.

MicrowavedTea,

Pocket space is only half the problem. The other half is one-handed use and the flip is huge when opened.

MicrowavedTea,

Because it’s something you use a lot for small things throughout the day. When you need to quickly answer a message or look at a map you shouldn’t need to stop and place down everything you’re holding.

MicrowavedTea,

On Samsung devices there is an accessibility setting that gives a smaller one-hand screen when swiping down from the bottom bar. But that just feels like a waste of space when you could just have a smaller screen.

MicrowavedTea,

This is probably very subjective. I’d say I use my phone one-handed about 7/10 times and I’d do it more if I could. Actually I do most things one-handed when possible but I have small hands so phones are becoming an issue. There isn’t a specific reason, it’s just more convenient.

MicrowavedTea,

Next step is for people to also start using it and we’ll experience the beginning of AI generated slang

MicrowavedTea,

Right now? 10d/1u. There was a post recently about my country coming last in internet speeds in Europe

MicrowavedTea,

Greece. I thought Germany was much better.

MicrowavedTea,

Also the opposite. Allow the user to specify that they want to see ALL languages, regardless of which ones their instance supports. It seems weird that navigating to an instance without being logged in shows all posts but when you’re logged in they get automatically filtered to the instance-supported languages.

MicrowavedTea,

Any type of container that closes if it’s in good enough shape (bottles, jars, cardboard boxes, bags). Also small open containers like yogurt or instant soup cups are probably the most useful for holding small items/snacks. When they become too many, you pick the best of each and throw away the rest. I also tend to keep foam packaging even though I’ve never found an actual use for it.

MicrowavedTea,

Uh I’d never thought how useful mask ear loops could be. Congrats, you just added another item to my collection.

MicrowavedTea,

I never got the appeal but they do sell chocolate covered popcorn so you may be on to something.

MicrowavedTea,

I do see one point specifically for outros and specifically for YouTube. It gives you enough time to click pause before automatically jumping to the next video on the playlist. But that’s more due to YouTube’s stupid behavior than an actual advantage.

MicrowavedTea,

I feel this is the way that best reflects how you look at an analog clock. First hours then minutes. It’d be interesting to know if the amount of people saying time the analog way depends on the system used.

How often do you change your mobile phone plan?

I feel like every two years I need to call my carrier and complain if I want a decent deal. They will do things like upgrade my plan on their website to have 10 extra gigabytes of data but won’t upgrade me to it until I contact them. There’s also all the new member exclusive deals that I feel make it impractical to just sit...

MicrowavedTea,

The answers here are interesting. If I don’t change my mobile plan after it expires (2 years) and it gets renewed automatically it will get more expensive for the same service. Actually, if you want to keep getting a decent price, the best way is to completely change provider every 2 years.

MicrowavedTea,

But IM gives you the pleasure of “replying” with a dot to a previous message you sent to bring it to their attention :)

[META] Can this community add info on how one should vote?

Is one supposed to upvote posts that they dislike (as if it were “opposite day”), to show it’s unpopular? Or is the goal to get as many downvotes as possible to demonstrate the unpopularity? It would be nice if the community info included expectations for voting on unpopular opinions.

MicrowavedTea,

Since there is no karma on lemmy it does make sense to downvote when disagreeing because 1. many people will do that anyway without looking at the community, and 2. you don’t actually know how unpopular an opinion is until a bunch of people have voted. And maybe low effort posts can be ignored. I agree it would be nice to have a mention in the rules.

MicrowavedTea,

The good thing is GoPros are still good years later. Most of the action my GoPro 4 has seen was in the last 2-3 years after sitting for a really long time.

about to fly, online check-in and downloading the qr code and boarding pass to my phone

This post is going to sound very similar to my last one, but now I only want to make sure I can check-in online from my desktop, download both the qr code and boarding pass as a pdf file to my phone and then either board the plane showing my phone with the pdf boarding pass to the agent or use my phone and the pdf qr code with...

MicrowavedTea,

Every time I’ve checked in online the qr code is the boarding pass so there’s no need to go to the kiosk, they check it on your phone. But as the others said it may vary depending on airline or country. And you probably don’t need the app at all unless the website says otherwise.

MicrowavedTea,

Bet it still doesn’t have an SD card though
