When we had field trips in early grade school, this is how they served the supplied PB&J’s. I guess it kept the jelly from soaking into the bread while the sandwiches sat in a cooler for 4 hours.

Has ethernet become illegitimate? A librarian flipped out after spotting me using ethernet

I plugged into ethernet (as wifi w/captive portal does not work for me). I think clearnet worked but I have no interest in that. Egress Tor traffic was blocked and so was VPN. I’m not interested in editing all my scripts and configs to use clearnet, so the library’s internet is useless to me (unless I bother to try a tor...

If it was a publicly available Ethernet port, it was likely for public use. The fact that she thought it was malicious speaks to ignorance on her part, not yours.

I was actually just thinking about that the other day. As far as I can tell, people tend to fall in to one of two camps:

  1. Make the character look as much like (a potentially idealized version of) yourself as possible
  2. Make the character look nothing like yourself

I always make my characters completely different from me, so they often (maybe 60-70% of the time) end up being women. My friend always makes them look as close to himself as possible.

I think it comes down to different styles of roleplay. I’m myself every day. Why would I want to be myself but Cyberpunk? My friend, on the other hand, wants to imagine himself as being in that world.

And then you have the third camp of people who make their characters horny or humorous, which can be fun to do occasionally but I cannot imagine doing regularly.

I think a legitimate concern for that one is what do you define as a disability worth terminating the baby’s life for. Some would likely abuse it for eugenics.

How do you store your grounded coffee? (slrpnk.net)

Hiya, just quickly wondering how people store their coffee? Mine is in a tin box I got second hand, cos I thought it looked nice. Any rules regarding storing grounded coffee? I don’t store much at the time, it’s just if I grind a little too much and what not. I’m assuming the general thumb rule for this is to store it in a...

In my coffee. Haha. I weigh out the amount of coffee I need before I grind it. That said, I also exclusively make cold brew, so I’m typically making enough for a few days.

Heard some people at my work complain about a change enacted 5 or so years ago. They blamed Obama.

I received a small (6-ish spaces) hydroponics kit two Christmases ago, and grew a few strawberry plants in it last year following the instructions that came with it. We never really got any strawberries off of them, but the plants themselves did wonderfully until the cats got to them.

This year I’d like to try something more “useful”, like fresh herbs or micro greens (both of which are rather expensive to buy where I live). Does anybody have tips for how to start these, and places (in the US or that ship to it) that might carry seeds for the micro greens? I’m also concerned about running out of the “fertilizer” that came with the kit.

Looking at some screenshots, that may have been Dementium Remastered as mentioned above by SturgiesYrFase. I’m not sure if it got a demo, and I hadn’t heard of it until about an hour ago, but it’s a guess.

Unless you consider Ace Combat an FPS, the 3DS doesn’t really have any of them that I know of. You’d be better off playing the old DS ones. If you count Homebrew, your options expand a lot. Doom and Quake play wonderfully on the New3DS with the C nub.

As far as my favorite games on it: wow, there are so many. Shin Megami Tensei IV (and Apocalypse), Fire Emblem Birthright, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pokémon, Monster Hunter 4U. The list goes on.

MisshapenDeviate,
@MisshapenDeviate@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Nice. I forgot about Federation Force (mostly I just remember the controversy with it not being what fans expected or something), but I have never heard of either of the others. I will have to look into them.

The 3DS has such a wide range of genres (although it is heavily biased toward RPGs and Platformers) that I’m not surprised there are more than one FPS for it. Wasn’t there one called Ironfall? Or was that one was 3rd person?

I just started playing that last year after meaning to for many years (doesn’t help that I only got into 2D Zelda like 5 years ago). It’s super fun. I still haven’t finished it, though. Got stuck at one part or another and haven’t gotten back to it yet.

A lot of the tiny critters responsible for decomp are aerobic, though, right? So once the air in the suit ran out they’d die, too.

MisshapenDeviate,
@MisshapenDeviate@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I wonder what decomp would be like on the Moon. I imagine at worst this dino would be a mummy, but it’d be pretty wild to find a barely rotten T Rex.

Oof. Skyward Sword is probably the worst of the 3D Zeldas, but it was surprisingly solid. That said, you may still be right, although mostly because it’s such a solid series. The 25th anniversary orchestral CD they did with it was fantastic, though.

In a recent Acolyte preview clip, we see assassin Mae (Amandla Stenberg) face off against Jedi Master Indara (Carrie-Ann Moss). While Indara resists taking out her saber until her life is threatened, Mae’s daggers and Force skills are a problem she can’t ignore. Just what makes Mae such an even match? I did that too, and mage ended up being the last one I won with. Ironically, I think I ended up leaving his staff with magic missile that run because I ended up with a ton of wands, so I could buff all of them at once at will by using my staff.

MisshapenDeviate,
@MisshapenDeviate@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

“Into Darkness” was the first one I won with. If you conserve your torches the first several levels, it isn’t much different than a run with no challenges.

MisshapenDeviate,
@MisshapenDeviate@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Six? I haven’t managed to get one with 3 yet.

MisshapenDeviate,
@MisshapenDeviate@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I won for the first time several months ago and I’m still amazed at how quickly progression came after that. The next few times you win you may not make it back up with the amulet, but once you do almost every time you make it past level 10 or so you’ll make it all the way down and back up again.

In other words, keep it up!

I can't sit on the couch anymore without one (or both) of these goobers requesting a blanket fort. If they're desperate enough for a fix they'll even share (programming.dev)

I would recommend everyone try this. Just sit down, bend your knees, throw a blanket over, and show them the entrance. Just be warned they will not leave unless you make them

MisshapenDeviate,
@MisshapenDeviate@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I thought my cat was strange for this same behavior. I should have known he wasn’t the only one. He will borrow under the blanket himself if I don’t have an entrance for him. Or paw at my leg until I make him one.

Ey that’s the reason I started reading Green Arrow.

First of all, if you haven’t read the Injustice comics they are quite enjoyable. Not peak fiction, but they function as fun prequels to the games.

I personally don’t know a ton about Zatanna, but there’s a relatively recent Reddit post (proxied link) that recommends the recent Dini run and its TPBs as the best place to read. If you want the origin of the character, it seems like you’ll have to jump through some hoops. Like Moon Knight, it took forever for her to get a solo run. Unlike Moon Knight, she does not appear to have a convenient omnibus collecting all of her original appearances. If you want her first appearance, it’s Hawkman #4 (1964).

Solomon Grundy’s first appearance seems to be All-American Comics (1944). He’s got a solo run by Scott Kolins from 2009. I see some mentions of Batman: Long Halloween as a good story featuring him, as well.
