Where abouts in the country are you in? It feels as if the temps have gone up a bit in the last week or so up here in Auckland. Not complaining about the warmer weather (especially since we weren’t planning on a snow trip this year), but it seems all the ski fields are having a terrible season.
I know it’s not the most popular sport on here, but playing golf this weekend was the first time in what seems like 1.5 months where I wasn’t sinking into the ground everywhere.
Interesting, was deep in the process of getting Home & Contents Insurance via ANZ, and they have said Vero will most likely refuse cover for “Semi-Detached” Houses.
Actually seems to have been worded a little wrong by ANZ. Filled out a questionnaire from Vero, and had a conversation with them, and cover was accepted.
It was more along the line of “We need to assess each of these cases on an individual basis by asking a few follow up questions”, which was actually very basic stuff.
Despite being right handed, it feels more comfortable to place my phone in my left front pocket. Maybe because having a wallet in my right pocket predates using mobile phones. What feels most natural for you?

In recent NZ political history (say ~20 years), has NZ politics become noticeably more combative?
I see a lot of articles and things around how American style politics has been making its way here, but I haven’t really followed politics here with any real intent (partly due to age, partly due to cbf-ness).
Seems all the arguments National make in the last few years is just going look what the other guys are doing, that’s terrible, we’ll be doing the opposite of that.
I wonder if this will continue to make the respective parties policies more radical, increasing the gap between the “Left” and "Right’, and in a country like NZ, work to kill off the other parties and make it a two party race like the states.
Do you think that as the main parties get more radical / not radical enough, we will see some of these smaller parties gain more prominence? Or are the two too well established.
I’ve sort of voted “blindly” in the past, and not really looked at each parties policies in depth. I am determined to ensure it’s different this time around. Interested to see which party I land on solely based on policy.
I was looking into getting a Window Cleaner to make cleaning windows a bit easier and quicker, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Karcher WV 6 Plus?...
Seems to be pretty underwhelming. I was planning on using it for indoors and out, and to significantly reduce the time and mess, but it seems it may not be so worth it.
Actually that is very relevant, as that was one of the reasons we were looking at getting one, was to clean the 2nd floor windows. Does it work well with the pole? Easy to control?
My parents and in laws are here visiting NZ. They were getting a bit bored in the house so wife and I decided to take them fishing this coming long weekend. We have rods, and baits but we are still undecided/have no idea about a lot of things....
We’re currently shopping around for some Insurance (House & Contents), and are trying to decide going direct with someone like ANZ (Underwritten by Vero), or using a Broker (Have received some quotes by Rothsbury, as they seemed to be quite widely recommended)....
Good to know. Will keep them in mind for when we come to renew next year. For now, we’ve decided to go with our Bank, mainly due to price and the cashback promotion they currently have.
