I find Liftoff to be much, much better atm

Almost already recommendable to people upset about third party reddit apps; just needs to remove the need to know how instances work when registering.

but when I do delete it after Sync for Lemmy is out, I'll replace them with

Reddit has killed off third party apps and most bots along with their moderation tools and accessibility features that allowed people with blindness and other disabilities to take part in discussions on the platform, so they could show more ads in their non-functional app.

Consider moving to Lemmy/kbin, two better and compatible alternatives to reddit (picture explains how) that many subs and users have moved to: sub.rehab

Reddit Sync's dev has turned the app into Sync for Lemmy (Android) instead, and Memmy for Lemmy (iOS) is heavily inspired by Apollo.

You only need one account on any Lemmy or kbin server/instance to access everything; doesn't matter which because they're all connected. Lemmy.world, Lemm.ee, vlemmy.net, kbin.social, fedia.io are all great for example.

I think the release of !syncforlemmy in about a month or so will seal the deal for lemmy for me, and probably many others.

Sync for Lemmy's release is not nearly as well known as it should be though fsr...

There's also Memmy for ios inspired by apollo, and I hear it's being developed insanely fast

I'm just happy Sync is coming to Lemmy.

There's already Jerboa, Memmy, and Thunder for open source clients. And possibly Artemis.

Nah, I agree, Jerboa is just not there right now.

I prefer the webview over Jerboa on mobile at the moment; the higher flexibility outweighs the lower mobile-friendliness for me

I can definitely see it getting great though! With more contribution.

Edit: After using the new latest version of Jerboa (0.0.35), I think I do prefer it over the webview now.

Alot of us, including me, wouldn't be here using Lemmy right now if people didn't market it to us.

Even people who otherwise would can't switch if they don't know about it.

Marketing is important; nothing wrong with that on its own.

Honestly, I think it needs to be more aggressive than that, as bad as that may sound.

Something like:

"Reddit's new API policies has made it impossible for Sync for Reddit to continue.

Click here for Sync for Lemmy, an alternative to Reddit, instead. You will be notified when it is out in [estimated time for prototype]."

Would probably be more effective if the app remained the same, and you didn't need to download a separate Sync for Lemmy from the playstore; do we know which one's happening yet?

I wonder if this would even be legal though.
