Pantsofmagic,

I’m a proponent of EVs and I’m looking forward to getting one at some point but “most” EVs don’t hold a charge for over 400 miles. Many are offered with a high range option that almost meets this mark, but that’s also under ideal conditions. I have several coworkers with EVs and we talk a lot about the range effects in the winter, or in hilly areas, etc.

Also you’d have to be crazy to plan out a trip that depletes your battery all the way, so that wouldn’t be for a 400 mile trip.

One thing that’s turning me off from EVs (currently) is the constant battling over charging standards. This creates more uncertainty than I’d like.

Pantsofmagic,

Yeah I usually watch YouTube on my shield and it clutters up every channel with junk I have no desire to watch.

Pantsofmagic,

I love shit like this but I wish people wouldn’t circle and highlight the crap out of posts like this. They basically highlighted the entire document.

Pantsofmagic,

If I had to share this information with anyone it would definitely be this guy. “seems legit”

PlayStation Portal Doesn’t Have Bluetooth (gamingbolt.com)

Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation Portal, and as a cloud-exclusive Remote Play handheld device, it’s obviously got a few caveats attached. The fact that it can’t play native games – or any native media – is, of course, one of them, while it’s also been confirmed that even the cloud library of PlayStation...

Pantsofmagic,

I’m not sure I understand part of this. The regular pulse 3d headset doesn’t support Bluetooth in the first place - even to use it with PS5 you have to plug in a USB dongle.

Pantsofmagic,

I agree, though I stopped taking their hardware reviews seriously. I could tell they were rushing and being sloppy. One of the things I was starting to get excited about was their pushing of manufacturers to improve repairability. I love what framework is doing, for example. Steve is big on this as well, but the more voices the better. The amount of stuff going into landfills is really starting to bother me.

Pantsofmagic,

Maybe some point and click adventure games? Those tend to have great stories. The Longest Journey, Syberia, stuff like that.

Looking for games with strong female leads for my daughter (even just to watch as I play). Came across this link, but they're a bit age-inappropriate. Any suggestions from the community? (gameranx.com)

Edit: Daughter is only 5 so she’s unlikely to play much but she watches me and as long as it’s not too violent, it should be fine

Pantsofmagic,

The Longest Journey / Dreamfall / Dreamfall Chapters. Absolutely magical games.

Pantsofmagic,

I truly wish for more memes of this nature

Pantsofmagic,

The 4090 is an absolute monster. Overclock a bit and you’ll need a logarithmic scale just to keep the 4080 on the chart.

Pantsofmagic,

The one folder where this is really painful is the WindowsApps for Windows store stuff. I had one situation where I reinstalled Windows and I had a couple of hundred gigs of games in a WindowsApps folder. The new install wouldn’t use the folder, so it became wasted space. The new install also wouldn’t let me delete / reclaim the directory no matter how much dicking around with permissions I did. I think I had to kill it from either Linux or a USB Windows installer command prompt.

Pantsofmagic,

The automotive equivalent of that would be a lease rather than a purchase though, as I see it.

Pantsofmagic,

You and me both brother. You should see the looks I get sipping coffee while mowing the lawn on a hot summer’s day.

Pantsofmagic,

It is absolutely not better than Google play music in any way, shape, or form. It has improved a lot since launch though. I’m still bitter about that switchover.

Pantsofmagic,

I’ve found that the Steam Deck is great for playing AAA remotely. I have a high spec PC and use Steam remote play, or Chiaki for PS5 remote play. It’s a bigger investment but it definitely keeps the Steam Deck more relevant even for titles that don’t run natively.

Pantsofmagic,

Yeah I seem to remember an NPR interview he did where they gave him “the packets” they captured of a malicious actor communicating with voting equipment and the files were Word documents that somebody typed a bunch of gibberish into and renamed the file extension.

Pantsofmagic,

I’ve been messing with this on and off for a few years now and I still haven’t seen support for multiple monitors running at different scaling levels (like running a 4K monitor at 125% alongside a 1080p monitor at 100%). This is a feature I use in Windows on one of my setups. I hope this gets some attention soon. I run Linux on most of my machines but this problem still gets in my way on others.

Pantsofmagic,

Okay thanks, I haven’t tried Wayland on that machine (which has an Nvidia card) but I’ll give it a go! Appreciate the help.

Pantsofmagic,

Yahoo came before most search engines. Then there was lycos and webcrawler and the early search engines that were always overloaded, then came stuff like Google.

Also don’t forget stuff like prodigy and compuserve and bbs’s before the web had much content.
