Ridiculously pleased with the thing I wrote today. It's not for my blog, it's a commission, but it's a sex advice piece on a topic that is usually incredibly gendered, and not only did I write an entirely gender-neutral article, I even shoehorned in a section about why our societal scripts lead us to believe we have to view this through a gendered lens.

Well done me, I deserve to go out for a lovely walk and a pint. SO I WILL.

The population of the earth was less than 1 billion in total for the entirety of earth history until about 1804. It took from then until 1927, less than 100 years ago, for it to reach 2 billion.

In the 96 years since it has risen 4 fold to over 8 billion.

What's the end game here?

@autoerot1ca I find it very telling that every factor that mitigates population growth and seems to lead to the desirable flat maximum population - contraception, education, bodily autonomy, technology, social change away from the nuclear family - seems to be vigorously opposed by so many and so diverse religious groups.
