PrincessLeiasCat,

Yeah, child abuse isn’t an ideal trait to have if you intend to be the legal guardian of children.

PrincessLeiasCat,

I never would have thought this, but I’m happy they have a place to go that’s good.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Happy Birthday OP!!! I’m sorry you’re feeling lonely on your birthday, that’s rough. I hope that some of the birthday wishes you’re getting here will make a difference in helping to alleviate that. I really wish that your day will get better and you’re able to enjoy your birthday. :)

PrincessLeiasCat,

“The Wind tells me I’m a ghost” and that “I was internally decapitated, and yet, I live.”

Has she been talking to Marianne Williamson (who is running for President again btw)?

Your body is merely your space station from whence you beam your love to the universe.Don’t just relate to the station; relate to the beams.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Oh shit lol I honestly did not know that about Charlie Kirk. I try to avoid him at all costs because I have a basic grasp of his assholery.

PrincessLeiasCat,

a Democrat on Thursday asked Mike Pence at the Iowa State Fair, “Why did you commit treason on Jan. 6?”

I don’t understand this accusation - Mike Pence is an asshole, don’t get me wrong, but I thought Jan. 6 was like, maybe the 1 good thing he did by not going along with Trump’s plan to steal the election? What am I missing?

PrincessLeiasCat,

The dog finally caught the car and didn’t know what the fuck to do with it.

PrincessLeiasCat,

I grew up not far from here and yeah, after storms this is not uncommon to see, sadly. It’s such a mess there with the oil & gas companies, chemical plants, and refineries. They offer good paying jobs for men with just a high school diploma. They’re highly sought after, but they’re destroying the state between dredging, spills, leaks, etc. The fishermen and other seafood industries are hurt by it, as well as the wetlands and environment, but the residents just can’t quit the addiction. And the state offers subsidies and rebates and tax breaks to the big companies, so Louisiana isn’t even compensated the way they should be, like in other states. It sucks and that’s why “Louisiana brain drain” is a real thing that just makes the problem worse. So many young people who get a higher education in other areas leave soon after because they know they have brighter futures elsewhere.

PrincessLeiasCat,

We were celebrating my birthday at a nice restaurant. My cousin, who had just had her first child 2 months before, was there.

I asked when he was eligible to be vaccinated (this was pre-Covid, so just talking routine infant vaccinations).

She said she wasn’t sure if she was because she read on FB that….

I had had some good wine. I had heard enough. It was my birthday and I regret nothing, but we didn’t speak for a very long while after I went into “are you fucking kidding me” mode.

Moon rocket blasts off, carrying Russia’s hope of first successful lunar landing since 1976 (www.theguardian.com)

The Luna-25 mission will seek to land near the south pole of the moon, collecting geological samples from the area, and sending back data for signs of water or its building blocks, which could raise the possibility of a future human colony on the moon.

PrincessLeiasCat, (edited )

It’s probably been in development for a decent number of years. By the time they invaded Ukraine, it may have been more difficult to cancel it if 99% of such a big mission was complete.

Plus, Russia (with China as a partner) is looking to assert its dominance in space once again. If their partners are willing to throw in $$$, Russia will prove they are worthy of such a task & capable of providing rockets that can achieve escape velocity.

People who back into parking spots: Why?

To me, it seems objectively easier to pull into a parking space forward and then back out of the space when you are ready to leave. You don’t have to line up with the lines while driving backwards, and it’s easier to keep from hitting other cars as well. So why back in? To me, the only advantage I can think of is that you...

PrincessLeiasCat,

I have a tiny car and no backup camera; it’s much easier for me to pull forward with the front-facing visibility of navigating a tight parking space and then just go straight back for a bit and have some clearance when getting out.

Personal preference and all but it just works. The time I would spend trying to get backing in just right isn’t worth my inconvenience and the inconvenience to others behind me as they wait.

And yes, I can parallel park when the time calls for it, it’s not my favorite thing to do though.

PrincessLeiasCat,

What a proud achievement for Desantis to boast about on the campaign trail /s

PrincessLeiasCat,

My god I do not miss having to be subjected to his incoherent screeching 24/7.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Would have been interesting if the poop emoji auto reply had been implemented at this time.

Also it’s hilarious that they took Elon’s “richest man in the world” bragging & turned it against him.

PrincessLeiasCat, (edited )

Which Ep was that?

Edit: I completely missed that OP had the episode numbers listed in the post. Thank you poppy@lemm.ee for letting me know.

PrincessLeiasCat,

LOL I’m sorry but this was such a joy to read. Oh, the glorious mental image. Thank you OP.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Thank you and apologies, I completely missed that.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Thanks for the update! Sorry this is happening, but appreciate the detail and transparency. I hope things get resolved as best they can.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Under the guidance, published Monday (7 August), teachers at schools in Orange County must use pronouns and titles that correspond to their “biological sex” at birth, and parents must fill out a form to let teachers know of any deviation from their child’s legal name, even if this is a simple nickname.

So if the governor of Florida was subjected to this “guidance”, he would need permission to go by Ron.

PrincessLeiasCat,

“That’s what they’re doing. ‘I’m sorry, I won’t be able to go to Iowa today. I won’t be able to go to New Hampshire today,’” he said. “Because I’m sitting in a courtroom on bull—-.”

The crowd cheered and broke into chants of “bull——!”

They’re caracitures of themselves at this point.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Holy shit how did I not hear about this but the back to the office thing was everywhere? Fuck that, no. No that is not ok. Fuck. FUCK why is everything going to this shit?

PrincessLeiasCat,

Is the programmer shitposters thing who people are describing when they talk about TPOT (referring to Twitter)? I have tried to look into this after I kept seeing the terms and found no great definition…at least none that made me go “ok I get it now”.

Here is some of what I found:

knowyourmeme.com/memes/subcultures/tpot-postrat

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=TPOT

lesswrong.com/…/explaining-the-twitter-postrat-sc…

…substack.com/…/what-the-hell-is-this-tpot-thing

None of them really describe the same thing. They post science stuff and jokes and memes and culture war and current event stuff. But they’re not rational (post rational) and there’s some woo. But they’re you’re group of friends you always talk to and they don’t like outsiders and they like their references to be obscure. But they’re also very friendly and inclusive to people who don’t feel they belong anywhere else. Etc etc etc

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s ok. If you do know and can explain, please help lol

Socialists working on salting workplaces (inthesetimes.com)

"The end of the Bernie campaign morphed into a summer salting project”. Salts — labor organizers who seek jobs at nonunion workplaces — have traditionally been paid by unions. Lately, DSA has been training salts on a voluntary basis as a means of growing the labor movement and making it more militant. YDSA has gone campus...

PrincessLeiasCat,

I have no issues with this being done, I only wish it didn’t get as much publicity. I don’t want the companies/union busters for hire to catch wind of it, making them more hyper vigilant than usual, which could shut down the salting campaigns faster.
