On the platform previously known as Twitter, Elon Musk has apparently given orders to automatically remove those who follow the account of Palestine Action US (@Pal_ActionUS). Many people have reported that after following the account, their accounts automatically unfollow it. We can confirm this from firsthand experience.

Whatever your politics in regard to Palestine, this is an important precedent. It confirms that Elon Musk bought Twitter in order to make it impossible for people to communicate except in ways that align with his personal agenda as a billionaire and racist. Relying on X/Twitter to communicate means enabling him to personally determine whom we can hear and whom is silenced.

Anarchists have always been at the front of struggles against fascism. Yet liberals consistently seek to associate anarchy with fascism and authoritarianism, intentionally misusing the word in order to muddy the waters.

Seeking to concentrate oppressive power in the hands of autocrats is precisely the opposite of anarchy. The only reason to create confusion about this is to discredit anarchists, presumably in order to reduce the imaginable political terrain to a binary between different degrees of state violence and oppression.

Those who smear anarchism reveal their own authoritarianism and dishonesty.

@FinalOverdrive @CrimethInc conservatives are still liberals. The usage of the word in the US is, like nearly all political labels, intentionally muddied into meaninglessness.

@FinalOverdrive @CrimethInc liberalism is a broad spectrum from social democracy to neoliberalism. The common denominator among all its variations is support of capitalism and liberal democracy. Conservatives fall within the wing that believes in stricter social hierarchies. Some tendencies within it share more in common with fascism (national conservatism, for example) and others with more traditional forms of liberalism, like neoconservatism.

Liberalism is about as specific as leftist. Modern democratic socialists have more in common with liberals than they do communists of any kind while still being socialists, and stalinists are hugely different from anarchists or autonomists. ML is to the right of anarchism because of its support of the state and the hierarchy that imposes, but I wouldn't call it liberalism unless I were trolling particularly awful adherents.

Like, I get where you're coming from, in that there are notable differences between the schools of liberalism and it's important to recognize them for productive conversations with people who haven't lost their minds to the fascism that's taken over the Republican Party. In my lifetime, Conservatives and Liberals have never liked being lumped together, but that's entirely because US politics is really, really dumbed down.

@livinghell @FinalOverdrive @CrimethInc those Libertarians (big L, indicative of the party) have repeatedly proven susceptible to actual nazism. The current party leadership has been spouting nazi propaganda for the last couple years. The remaining liberals have pretty much capitulated and are removing the even fewer number of people who are calling a spade a spade.
