perhaps an extremely obvious observation about : when next starting from scratch, try and get all my creatures up to high levels like really high levels as soon as I can. I'm walking through that path before the tunnel after the first stadium, and while my initial manamon is quite advanced now at level 20, I've still got a couple that are only at level five. I'm learning so much though. This requires skill and patience.

My brother Larry received this firmware email update from Samuel Greene at Zoom today regarding the Essential series.

We have released the first firmware update for the Essential series with updates to the accessibility system. This update includes:

  1. A shortcut function to switch on/off the guide sound has been added. (All units)
  2. Track on/off sounds will be output when track buttons are pressed. (H4essential and H6essential)

There are more updates we are investigating, but we are excited to push these out now.

To aid in updating the firmware, which is not an accessible process, we have created some instructional youtube videos to guide you through the process.

@evilcookies98 Don't be scared, the law won't pass and plus, no pasta is going to do that. Seem like he's got a Christian bone in his body anyway, it's just wrong, but nothing will happen. And it's unlikely you will go to a church where that would ever happen.

So it seems that I get my sound professional binaural microphones this coming Monday. That was quick! Probably why postage was so expensive. Anyway, I'm wondering, has anyone been able to use these for recording on their iPhone with the 3.5 to the lightning cable adapter of which I have a couple of? I'm guessing probably not but worth asking. I am excited to get that in my zoom recorder. I'll be able to go out and do all sorts of nature recordings among ev other things, perhaps Podcasts in the future.

It seems like this is the month of appliances. Last week I got a new, more powerful microwave with a Braille overlay included in the box, which replaced my 12-year-old 700W microwave. This week I ordered my first ice maker. I had a very fun call with Brenton from @AiraVI, who was seemingly just as excited as I was when we finally found one with actual good reviews and tactile buttons. Knowing how quickly these things make ice, I'm kind of annoyed it took me so long to think of this. My understanding is that these machines only make one piece of ice at a time, which means there's just one section of the machine that gets all the concentrated cold. This claims to be able to make 9 cubes in 6 minutes, which is pretty standard.

@simon Yes I remember this from last year. Friends I visited in the states had one, because one of them sadly had cancer and found it refreshing drinking or eating ice. He has sadly passed away since, but I do remember getting ice for him out of the icemaker, and at one stage for some reason it stopped working and I somehow fixed it. I don't know what I did, but I fixed it. LOL

I have two H1Essential recorders so I made a short recording of the firmware update process on the second recorder, in case it helps someone more than the anti-useful text instructions. Assumes you know how to navigate the menus and not much else.
To download the necessary file, go to the below link and select "H1essential System Version 1.10 (Released 02/28/2024)".
Open the zip file and copy H1essential.BIN to the root of your SD card.
TL;DL:

  1. On the recorder, go to the system menu and select Firmware. The recorder should announce the current firmware version.
  2. Press enter/F4 a second time. The recorder will say "firmware update, cancel."
  3. Scroll to "Execute", and press f4 one final time. The recorder will not say anything, but will display something like "Please turn off the recorder to finish updating."
  4. Turn off the recorder. This will play the standard power off sound.
  5. For good measure because I don't know for sure whether this is necessary, wait about 15 seconds and then try to turn the recorder on. This will make no sound.
  6. Wait 2 minutes and try turning the recorder on. If you slide the power switch too early, nothing bad will happen, so you can use this to check whether the firmware is still updating.
  7. Go back to the system / firmware menu and verify that your version is now 1.10.

For the musical geeks.
C, E-flat, and G go into a bar. The bartender says, "Sorry, but we don't serve minors." So E-flat leaves, and C and G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished, and G is out flat. F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough. D comes in and heads for the bathroom, saying, "Excuse me; I'll just be a second." Then A comes in, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor. Then the bartender notices B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and says, "Get out! You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar tonight." E-flat comes back the next night in a three-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender says, "You're looking sharp tonight.
Come on in, this could be a major development." Sure enough, E-flat soon takes off his suit and everything else, and is au natural. Eventually C sobers up and realizes in horror that he's under a rest. C is brought to trial, found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of D.S. without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.

So does anyone know if we can save the photo that we capture with ? It only gives me the option to copy, but then when I copy it, it doesn't give me the option to paste it anywhere, like on Facebook etc. How can we keep the image, or save it to our camera roll? Does anyone know

@ppatel Thanks for clarifying. If you click on chat more, there is the option in the list at the start to copy, if you swipe down on the image that you sent, but you seem to have clarified that there is indeed no way to save the photo at the moment. Thanks for that. Someone Bumstead me and told us we could do it.

Wow how motional. I just had a photo of my Nanna describe to me for the very very first time. Sadly, their faces are blurred out for privacy reasons, but this is the closest I've ever heard my late Nanna been described: The picture shows an elderly woman sitting in a blue armchair. Her face is obscured by a brown rectangle, probably for privacy. She has curly white hair and is wearing a dark blazer and black pants. Her hands are resting on her lap and she is wearing a watch on her left wrist. She is wearing beige compression socks. To her left, there is a red walker. On the wall behind her, there is a calendar with a picture of a sunset and a note above it that reads "Happy 91st Birthday Mum Nana XXXX". There is also a white door with a silver handle and a white standing fan next to the woman.
