Is there a way to stop being tortured by every awkward moment youve ever had /assuming the worst about someone must be thinking when you see the confused look on their face?
Feeling pretty rattled after an interaction with a beggar but I guess even an NT would have trouble with this one:
walked by the first time
felt bad, so passed again and put what I had in my pocket in her cup (which happened to be £10)
saw her again later sheltering from the rain in a doorway and she called me over and thanked me which was fine but then she asked if I could give more and really started pleading.
Whats the moral here - are you not supposed to give people more than a certain amount? @actuallyautistic
@RavenLuni@actuallyautistic As someone who spent a fair bit of time working with ppl in that situation, setting your boundaries is essential. They do not have a preconceived idea of how much is asking too much because they generally exist in survival mode and will continue asking out of desperation. Most of them will drop it when you communicate a clear "no". Some might be assholes and try to pressure you, but their peers will probably be more aware that alienating a generous person is bad form
@RavenLuni@actuallyautistic But never be afraid of setting boundaries. Anyone who's spent enough time in that environment knows that's how you protect yourself from burnout and compassion fatigue. They'll be used to it (and usually respect it) cause I'd say probably 80% of service workers they've interacted with have learned how to set concrete boundaries in order to keep doing that work. They're expecting you to indicate when you've hit your limit. Never be afraid to do so
My Knight Lore remake is still available on the old Retrospec site. Everything written from scratch in Delphi with some x86 assembly here and there. I also did the music and sfx. Only runs with wine due to using directx 8 (which later windoze versions had issues with): http://retrospec.sgn.net/info.htm?id=kl&t=g #gamedev#retrogaming
Just dug up this gem from back in my school days. Its a DOS version of a board game my friend and I created and used to play in class - hiding it under a pile of folders and making our moves when the teacher left the room. #startrek#boardgames#gamedev#dosgames
Been working on my schematic design program - turns out its good for knocking up any kind of vector graphic you want - illustrations, signage, you name it.
