It’s trivial to use a touchscreen with nails of arbitrary length if you’re used to it. You can easily just use the side, where the cuticle is. If you put on acrylics you’ll have some trouble adjusting, but if you let it grow naturally you’ll adjust as they grow

I don’t think too many people are really against durable plastics

Want to move on from Mastodon, but so confused on what platform to choose

Recently I've dove a little deeper into the Fediverse. I began with Mastodon like many others and I'm ready to move on. Mastodon as a software in comparison to similar services in the Fediverse like Calckey/Firefish, Friendica, Misskey, etc. just isn't as good and the only thing it has going for it is an established user base...

It’s just another centrally controlled, closed source platform. There’s no reason it wouldn’t go the same way as all the others

I'm starting to find some of the cooler aspects of the wider fediverse.

For instance, Lemmy is a Reddit clone that is picking up some migration after the recent hooha or at Reddit.

The cool thing is that it's federated (same as mastodon, different instances and everything).

This means that you can subscribe to any community on Lemmy, for instance

https://lemmy.world/c/showerthoughts

through its fediverse address, right here on your mastodon instance:

@showerthoughts

You can check the poster’s instance, but it’s obviously not something you easily notice. It’s pretty easy to tell if it has a bunch of @mentions and hashtags

Lemmy has a setting to hide bot posts

Account settings > disable “show bot accounts”

You’re not at all required to specify a time

What are the big red hearts? Containers with food on the other side, or are they actually food?

I was talking about the ones in the main compartment

I can confirm that these are everywhere here

If I had to guess I’d say infinitely many, but I’m in no way competent enough to prove it

Why would you download executables from someone you don’t trust?

ReveredOxygen,
@ReveredOxygen@sh.itjust.works avatar

Mostly math, just because that’s the majority of my writing. I use them for everything, unless I need it not to be permanent

ReveredOxygen,

I’m just starting out, so the only ink I even own is Noodlers X-Feather. Not particularly fancy, but it works great for school

Assuming it’s multiplicative, you would have to consume 140 ketchup bottles to jump twice as high

do it for 2 years to get 38x

Luckily, they can’t force federated access to be slow. Once you federate with them, their content is copied to your instance. It’s not necessary for every fediverse user to contact Threads, it’ll just be served from each user’s home instance

ReveredOxygen,
@ReveredOxygen@sh.itjust.works avatar

There’s no yet about it. The architecture of how federation works makes it impossible. They can potentially make images load slow, but for the rest of the content it is fundamentally impossible

You still have to hold him somewhere if you want to dip him in the river styx
