anote: A MyAnimeList-based anime recommendation system (github.com)

Sup, I’ve been working on this project for the past few months and now it’s finally finished. It’s a MyAnimeList-based anime recommendation system written in Rust. It’s still being trained on the background as I’ve only started the training today in the morning, so tomorrow, the results you get can change....

Nice, thank you, got my star!

Will be using this soon to find a new anime to watch :D

Hope my and other instances will de-federate from Threads/Meta.

We don’t need that spyware giant in the fediverse…

Thank you for sharing that link.
And man happy to be on tchncs lately! :D

Lemmyverse is a nice place to find instances/communities:

TLDR: But-hurt C++ dev has a hard time accepting that his favorite language is not memory safe.

You can try to convince the Discord server moderators to bridge their servers to Matrix with something like T2Bot:
t2bot.io/discord/

That’s what I did when I was running a Discord server,
worked nicely in both directions.

@Rikj000@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I love Termux too,
but honestly I have little use-cases for it.

Back when I ran a server,
it was nice to be able to SSH into it through Termux from time to time to do some maintenance on the go.

Nowadays I still use Termux to ping/telnet devices sometimes, to see if they’re reachable, also on the go.

But other then that,
I don’t know what I’d use it for.

Since imo, most CLI stuff is way easier behind a laptop/desktop, due to having a larger screen available to you, for easier:

  • Copy/pasting/dialing in long commands
  • Reading of long/large command outputs

Joycons suck, badly.
Apart from the drift and poor battery life,
they feel bad in your hands.

Here’s what I did/do:

  1. Install Atmosphere
    github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere
  2. Install MissionControl
    github.com/ndeadly/MissionControl
  3. Connect any good controller(s) you have laying around,
for me it’s been my DualShock 4 PlayStation controllers.

The DS4 controllers play much better,
and have been surviving for much longer as well.

Never said it was easy,
although this guide claims it is:
rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy

Also, if you paid for Games/DLC,
then you’re in your right to re-claim those games any way you see fit if Nintendo dares to take them away from you.

Rikj000,
@Rikj000@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

If you buy a copy of something,
then no one should be allowed to steal your copy away from you.

As long as you have the receipt to show that you own a copy of the game,
you should be allowed to play it any way you see fit.

Rikj000,
@Rikj000@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Any way you see fit does not have to mean downloaded from official services.

I won’t post links here,
but there are other means of getting the content you rightfully own.

It’s not stealing if you already own a copy.

In my experience,
AMD is a bliss on Linux,
while Nvidia is a headache.

Also, AMD has ROCM,
it’s their equivalent of Nvidia’s CUDA.

@Rikj000@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Even not the “issue” that basically every time you update something, you have to wait a long time to download proprietary nvidia drivers?

That’s what annoyed me the most back in the day with the Nvidia drivers,
so many hours wasted on updating the drivers.

With AMD, this is not the case.

And haven’t even talked about my issues with Optimus (Intel on-board graphics + Nvidia GPU) yet, which was a true nightmare, took me weeks of research to finally make it work correctly.

I like to add as many repos as I can.
The more apps in F-Droid,
the less reason to go to GooglePlay :)

Here is a list with all repo’s I’ve got imported:

I usually keep the Archive variants disabled,
but they’re nice to keep around,
for if you ever need an old version of an app.

Also,
most of these I’ve found through Droid-Ify,
it’s my favorite app to manage my F-Droid apps: f-droid.org/packages/com.looker.droidify/

Regarding moving (any) files:

Regarding installing (NSP) files:

Note:
You will likely use the local internet option to transfer/install files.

Make sure to block Nintendo servers before connecting to the internet with 90DNS:

2 issues I have with this:

  1. Google is one of the biggest spy-ware companies out there
  2. Due to 1. I would not be suprised if they participate in Harvest now, decrpyt later
(regarding users who think they will be safe under a VPN)

I’d consider taking another ISP,
you know, just one who is not known for using you as a product and shoving spyware into every nook and cranny they can find…

Afaik this is a stock feature
in LineageOS’s Trebuchet Launcher,
called “Hidden & Protected apps”

You can switch to LineageOS for it,
or grab only the launcher from APKMirror:
www.apkmirror.com/apk/lineageos/trebuchet-4/

Note: I’m still on Android 13,
so not fully sure if it will be available on 14,
but I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

I like Terminator,
for it’s ability to split one terminal window into as much as you want:
gnome-terminator.org

In combination with Fish shell,
for it’s auto completion + syntax highlighting:
fishshell.com

And lastly, BobTheFish,
a nice git-aware powerline theme to go along with it:
github.com/oh-my-fish/theme-bobthefish

Check which devices are supported under the LineageOS(forMicroG) device lists:

If it’s under there,
then LineageOS(forMicroG) will be supported officially.

Magisk (root) should work on any of these devices:

Additionally, I like to use the compare functionality of GSMArena to compare device hardware specs (battery, camera, nfc, etc):

Rikj000,
@Rikj000@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I’ve always been happy with OnePlus devices.

Their build quality and specs are good for the price and they are often well supported by LineageOS.

However I think its personal preference.

So I’d say look for any brand which you like,
and check if there is a device available within your price range, with specs that seem sufficient for you.

If I learned anything from past 3 MSI laptops,
they provide good hardware for the price.

However, wrapped in shit build quality!

Each of them started to break down within a year of use…

Would not recommend anything from MSI again,
except for loose desktop components.

Sadly there doesn’t appear to be an official Azure DevOps Pipeline for the yuzu-android repo,
so be cautious with following forks!

After searching Github for yuzu-android, and then sorting on “Recently Updated”:
github.com/search?q=yuzu-android&type=repositorie…

I’d guess one of the following will be the latest yuzu-android code bases:

Damn Citra as well?!..
Nintendo is being relentless…

Luckily the FOSS community is acting like a hydra,
for each head they cut off, 2 new ones will grow back.

Seems like ourfavoritefruits on Github did a good job of forking / preserving Citra:
