@Sbectol was that just before they did up the middle with posh shops overlooking the River Kennet (& removed any places to moor up)? I know that was fairly new when I went through in 2001.
@CatherineFlick it seems like the AI bros are trying to change the conversation with academics; seems like they are saying that AI is inevitably going to be a major part of life for every student so universities need to take account of it (and encourage use), and here's a fancy new AI tool to help with that
@Sbectol yep! Frustratingly it’s hard to stop that self fulfilling prophecy. I’m just glad it’s putting the essay mills out of business, and finally forcing academia to reassess the necessity of things like essays when other methods exist :)
@CatherineFlick sounds like there's quite a risk to the other entities too given that the OCF was so large. All seems rather too intertwined, which also seems to be self-defeating even at the point where these things were set up
@Sbectol not sure, the main org seems to be fairly separate so we’re hopeful here (we are with a U.K. based entity but serviced through the main OC company).
The loss of agricultural research in the UK is chronic but nobody seems interested. There used to be a network of university and institute research farms, but they've mostly gone now.
