TIL there is such a thing as a PANA (Polycule Assigned Numbers Authority).
It's basically a person fulfilling the role of a RIR within all of their non-cohabitating bfs/gfs, allocating RFC1918 address space so they can peer their networks over site-to-site VPNs without address space collisions.
Never really thought about this before but I can totally see how it'd be a problem if you didn't have some level of coordination.
People who live in the city proper in #Chicago reaalllly underestimate how much fun and how much good trouble you can get in in the near #Chicagland suburbs. I have never had a problem with either of those things. If you tell me that you can’t find good food, good cocktails or good entertainment - or even good places open late, you are not trying hard enough or honesty just have a bad attitude. Because I go to both.

We got a quote for a 1 day rental of fifteen squawkboxes for almost $700. SEVEN HUNDRED FUCKING DOLLARS. I can get the whole group a pile of retevis' for $200, and I can program them with CTCSS and such.
NGL... I may be a little pissed about that particular quote.
I found this thread by @maegul to be a pretty reasonable summary of the major points. Obviously it's coming from someone on the instance in question so take everything with a grain of salt, but it more or less tracks with what I've dug up myself trying to piece together what happened with #hachyderm.
