Is it just me or does the really have the worst parental controls?

What I expected:

  • only games suitable for the configured age are displayed in restricted mode.
  • Language can be configured per user.
  • Parental controls are applied per user.

Instead:

  • user accounts are not seperate. Language and parental controls are systemwide.
  • DOOM is displayed prominently on the home screen. That's a Revenant (i.e. has a human skull) backed by flames.

What? That's so wrong! You'd think with a gaming platform as old as Nintendo they would have things like this in better shape.
It's so wrong that a minor can get access to Doom, just because it's installed in the system.

Though I have no idea how Playstation is with this, as I never had a kids account on mine 🤔

Ah that's a plus... But yeah a filter for those games would be preferable!

I gotta admit some of the melancholy over the last few days has been due to my birthday creeping up on me. It was always such a wild ride over on Twitter that I was not sure how it would feel here.

I gotta say today has proven to me more than anything else over the last year... that the Fediverse is my home now. Yall are my extended family now.

If I want to boost your Toot and there's no alt text, I'll boost and reply, asking about alt text.
I definitely don't wanna be a nag! Or a pain in the ass... But...
Just a minute extra to add the alt text would mean visually impaired gamers could enjoy your toots as well! I don't want to exclude any gamers... And I hope you're with me on that!
Don't worry, you'll get better at it ad you go.
And if you're unsure, ask other gamers to help!

Dear using our lovely hashtag

Please use alt texts. Pretty please! Some people never seem to use them and I feel bad boosting their posts as I feel they're not inclusive to ALL gamers. 😔
Some of us need screen readers!

I don't care if you're not good with the alt texts, as you use them more, you'll learn and get better. But pretty soon, I don't think I can keep boosting posts without ALT Texts!
