She may just be pointing out how buzzwords seem to explode throughout the internet, like when someone mentioned boiling a frog in a pot and now someone shares that exact metaphor in every 1 in 4 threads.

I accidentally came across a Freak on a Leash the other day and was immediately transported back to the weird days of my adolescence, smoking Winstons in my friendā€™s trailer park and stealing Subway stickers from his dad in order to redeem a wealth of free 6" subs.

Something about the way those guitars sound just makes me feel that again. There are also hints in there somewhere of staring at a velvet mushroom black light poster while experiencing a THC-induced anxiety attack.

The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion is probably my best answer. Remains the only modern Elder Scrolls that Iā€™ve only played through once with no desire to return to. Feels clunky and sluggish, the world is washed out and bland, the enemy scaling is a slog, itemization is not interesting or impactful, the UI is uncomfortable, etc. While it does a lot of things better than Skyrim, I just canā€™t bring myself to enjoy the experience like I did Morrowind, and I admit Iā€™ve sunk far more hours into Skyrim as well.

I really enjoyed what I played of Primal, and I hope they do more historic ones like it. One set during the Dark Ages would be sweet.

Iā€™m weird as hell in that I enjoy music, but I rarely ever sit down and listen to it. Then the other day I learn that my three-year-old discovered Bushā€™s Glycerine on the way home from daycare and has now been asking for it on our Google Home. I realize, ā€œDude, I fucking loved Glycerine.ā€, and immediately set to assembling a playlist over the course of three days, made up of mostly older music I grew up with. But you bet your ass I still donā€™t listen to it. Anywayā€¦ Thatā€™s my TED Talk on music.

Honestly, there are two mobile games Iā€™ve really been blown away by: Night of the Full Moon, and Dungeon Boss Respawned. Theyā€™re very polished, very feature-complete games that are on the small and neatly contained side. For PC, Bastion is pretty damn good. Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 as well, but itā€™s difficult to get those running anymore. Raft, Ori and the Blind Forest and Stardew Valley are also phenomenal.

Iā€™m sure there are other small games worthy of mention, but Iā€™m struggling to remember them. I usually play large open world games. On that subject, absolutely try Valheim if you havenā€™t.

Iā€™ll be happy to summarize each of these games if youā€™d like me to.

Valheim. Just crafted iron scale armor for the first time with my wife and it looks bad-ass as fuck. If we werenā€™t playing this Iā€™d either be playing STALKER (as usual) or taking a second stab at The Witcher 3.

Are we certain this isnā€™t some kind of reference point added to the image for whatever reason? This is suspiciously straight in alignment, as though it were added in Paint.

I work at a small grocery store and Iā€™m astounded by how often people shit in our public bathroom. Our toilet is extemely popular, and as such is always ripe with the robust smell of shit. Itā€™s clear that many of these customers have a routine.

Most people think that catfish listen to bluegrass, but what they donā€™t realize is that itā€™s actually reggae.

Iā€™ve never seen this before. It felt like I was watching a Joel Haver cartoon without the surreal comedy. Iā€™ll have to watch this thing in its entirety.

Why does ā€œcome hereā€ bother me so much?

Ok, I have no idea why this bothers me and I donā€™t even know what to call it. My husband is a ā€œcome hereā€ guy. Something he thinks is interesting and wants to show me - hey, come here! Nuclear apocalypse - hey, come here! Why the hell wont he just tell me why he wants me to get up, trudge to wherever he is, so that he can...

Stalinwolf,
@Stalinwolf@lemmy.ca avatar

I can see how this would be exhausting after a while. I get a ā€œcome hereā€ from my wife every couple of days or so when my daughter is doing something cute, or something weird is happening outside. Itā€™s generally reserved (for the most part) for something fleeting thatā€™s worth coming there to see.

As Tyrone from Trailer Park Boys would say, ā€œYouā€™re sayinā€™ ā€œcome hereā€™ā€ too many times! 80 or 90 times? Thatā€™s too many times! Once or twice is cool, but 80 or 90 times, man?! Thatā€™s too many ā€œcome heresā€, knowā€™m sayinā€™? Thatā€™s too many times. Once or twice is cool, but 80 or 90 times?ā€

Eh, Iā€™d give it a 7. Itā€™s a solid movie. Very cinematic, great audio design, interesting characters. Goes on longer than I would have preferred but I guess they had to tell the whole story. Still, in all fairness, a 6 isnā€™t even a bad movie.

Yeah, man. Iā€™m with you and Iā€™m incredibly pleased. My old experience Iā€™ve enjoyed on reddit for years is finally back and is functionally identical, at least for the basics I missed so much.

I have a wife and a three year old, so I donā€™t have a tremendous amount of free time these days. Still, I fill what I can with PC gaming (wife and I are playing Valheim together currently), reading fiction, and occasionally writing. Occasionally.

I figure eventually here these kids are going to be old enough to get in on these co-op survival games. I hooked up my old Wii recently and my daughter loves to play Mario Kart, even it she only drives in circles and shouts, ā€œFind me, Dad!ā€. We just have to get through the sleep deprivation and maybe another thousand bedtimes or so, and then heyā€¦ Itā€™ll probably get easierā€¦ šŸ«

I occasionally put on old episodes at work and itā€™s insane how different he is. Used to have very progressive views while still exercising the ability to think critically on informations and events. Now every episode is flagged for misinformation, and heā€™s constantly dropping the word ā€œwokeā€ as if to test the waters with each guest, practically leaping out of his jeans to go on another anti-woke tangent. Heā€™s become completely consumed by it. I suppose this is whatā€™s bound to happen when you repeatedly surround yourself with morons like Eddie Bravo and Alex Jones.

American ex-pat/Canadian permanent resident here. This is all pretty accurate in my experience, though I canā€™t speak on using Imperial for work-related measurements or pool temperature. Just this morning I had to describe our current bout of cool weather in Ferenheit to my friends back home, and was reminded all over again how ridiculous it is that the US still isnā€™t on metric. This rings especially true whenever I call my mom. Seems like I have to ā€œHey Googleā€ conversions in every conversation we have. Before my dad died he would keep his weather app on Celcius to report the weather to me in metric. I honestly love that he felt compelled to do that.

It was a little weird getting used to the metric system initially, but I honestly prefer it at this point. I used to argue that you could be more precise with Farenheit, as the scale was broader. However, Iā€™ve since come to realize that no one cares whether it was 74Ā° or 76Ā°.

My employer struggled to hire a meat guy for three years, as they only wanted to offer minimum wage without benefits. Theyā€™d score the occasional hire, but that hire would inevitably quit after a few weeks when they realized it wasnā€™t worth the pay. Both the store owner and the meat manager would continue to grumble about how ā€œNobody wants to work anymoreā€, rather than facing the reality that nobody wants to work for shit pay and no benefits, as evident by the multiple hires who said ā€œFuck this jobā€ and took their services elsewhere. Eventually they coughed up more and wound up landing a certified meat cutter with experience. Crazy how nature do that.

I donā€™t know what the nobody wants to work crowd thinks the average non-contributer is doing to afford food and shelter. Itā€™s as though they imagine these people just declare that they donā€™t want to work and receive government subsidies via the ā€œI donā€™t want to work anymoreā€ check-box.
