Minisforum has a Windows tablet with some nice specs. Lots of goodies, M2 (non pro) CPU like performance, blah blah blah.
What's really interesting is a feature Apple will never add to their tablets (or bring back to iMacs). DP port in. From what I've seen its kind of a hacky implementation, but still progress!
I am gonna take the, “did we even watch the same show as the ultra conservative and fascist people saying ‘Trek/Wars/Who has gone ‘woke’” even further, and go with there are pretty much three kinds of successful sci-fi serials:
~dystopian or subversive ones making pretty obvious commentary about fascism
-ones with some slight hope for the human future that have always made at least a little social commentary about how we could make things more egalitarian and open for POC, women, gay people, etc
~shitty space marines with generally poor writing that made ad revenue
And the first two flew over way too many chuckleheads’ noggins.
@SecurityWriter I've been using the Timemore Chestnut X for my espresso for a couple of years now. I also use their digital scale. They seem to make some really nice coffee tools!
@virtualbri I haven't seen this yet, but I can already hear the jerkwad misogynists saying the reason the movie bombed was because of women and diversity. 🤦♂️
What is your favorite Chinese disruption of the American corporate market and why is it cheapo internet glasses companies throwing a wrench in the glasses frame racket?
@hacks4pancakes At this point I only do my eye exam, prescription lenses AND frames during our annual trip to Taiwan. On top of that, either with HSA debit card or English invoice, it's completely covered by insurance.
Happy “Still Subscribe To This Thing Superstitiously Even Though I Have Apple Music Because I Don’t Want Anything To Happen To My Music Library” Day to all who celebrate
Also known as “Apple Designer Isn’t Sure Where That Email Template Is Actually Stored On The Server And We Don’t Want Anything To Happen To The Other Emails So How About We Just Leave It For Now” Day
I think I only had just Windows (not NT) and some Linux at the time and I haven't thought about it at all, until your post.
Just all the paths for things are weird when it was supposed to be a file server for Windows. Probably lots of the legacy stuff that it previously supported.
Bless, whoever had to take that thing over for me when I graduated. I remember visiting a few years later and the little guy was somehow still running!
Confidential to any NextDNS* users: turn it off before trying to activate an Apple Watch’s Cellular on Verizon in the Watch app. I spent hours trying to figure out why the Verizon sheet would hang when trying to log in. Let my woe save you
@cabel My VPN provider already has a DNS that filters a lot of things that I've set up on my router, even without VPN enabled. So all my home devices has that automatically.
Quick glance looks like this is more with dashboard and settings?
Good tip about it blocking Verizon for watch activation for some reason though.
I love Passkeys, and also believe that Passkeys will, eventually, eliminate my need for 1Password (which I like — but would like to not need!). macOS/iOS Passkeys automatically sync to all my devices, they’re not a text string, they just work.
So, imagine my surprise when I just went to create a Passkey for Nintendo, and found that 1Password blocked and hijacked the system Passkey prompt… in favor of their own.
Just a convenience? Or artificial lock-in to protect 1Password’s future? Hmm
@arstechnica Even if it's not offered in the US, we need to make lots of noise in protest of silly policies like that, so BMW and other car companies don't try to do it just to avoid the bad press and backlash.
And also it's dumb. We're already paying for the car already!
