One of the instance that is promoted on join-lemmy.org is burggit.moe that is defined as "NSFW & Loli/Shota/Cub friendly". Loli is legally considered as paedophilia in europe and the US, so even if it's legal in the country that host the instance, I would suggest to not promote it as an instance to join
Lemmygrad has a bot which detects youtube, twitter and reddit links in your post and offers links to open source front ends like invidious, nitter and libreddit. It'd be nice if we had one of those.
I've been writing fiction for some years now, but there is a non-fiction project I'd wanted to start for a while but I keep postponing it. It's mostly related to my life experiences and I think letting them out would be cathartic and writing a guide that may help other people with the same struggles feels the best way to do it....
Hmm, I bookmarked this post in hopes someone may answer you.
I write nonfiction but my focus is on legal/historical studies, hence I cannot offer you much help. From what I understand, you're looking to write a memoir which, in a sense, can embrace the spirit of a fiction novel. Storytelling techniques are useful in that case to relate to and engage the reader. So perhaps tackling your memoir as fiction isn't a bad idea. See this, this and this.
However, even in the recounting of personal experiences there may be a crucial place for research. This article might be helpful, and check out the rest of Phillip Lopate's works.
One last thing I can offer—and which applies to any form of writing— is not to overthink it. Only a sliver of what you've wrote in the first sittings will remain in the final draft; give yourself the opportunity to meditate upon the written word. A few chapters deep in my work, I now have a clear idea on how to tackle the introduction.
A few months ago, I switched from using mainly YouTube for music to a self-hosted solution. I download everything from Soulseek and really love it. But the one issue that I have is that it is pretty hard to find new music. With YouTube, I had recommendation that most of the time were pretty conservative but still sometimes...
Vimusic is an open source youtube music client for android which has a radio feature + the ability to create playlists and follow artists. Great to disciver new songs.
If that doesn't suit you there is Recommelody, a flutter app that recommends music based on user favourites, using the Spotify Web API.
I really love Boost for reddit, I know it's not open source but I'm sure there are open source apps that are similar enough. Does anyone know how to adjust one of these open source reddit apps to work with Lemmy? I am using an open source android app from f-droid, and it lacks some of my favorite features like tapping to...
I feel like a crappy salesman by now but there is lemmur, a recently abandoned project for a lemmy client that I think could be rehabilitated with the proper expertise.
This seems like the most relevant community. I have so many questions - some from pure curiosity, and some from actually considering hosting an instance.
Not beehaw 🤭 but I am reading Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex. While it wasn't explicitly a feminist work, you can uncover by reading it the roots of feminist thought and literature.
Just joined, and well, I'm thinking ill stay. Ive been looking for a good reddit alternative for a while now. devs, you've done quite some good work here.

It ceased development, the dev states that on github. But anyone can fork it and revamp it, the code is neat and only needs to be updated to the latest lemmy version.
You can still freely access the playlists on https://open.spotify.com/ without an account. And Newpipe has a share function for local playlists. You won't be missing on a lot, just don't fall for the consumerist trap and break the social boundaries.
Edit: You can also access banking services from their respective website. Don't give them power over you by downloading their apps.
We are happy to see that many of you are exploring Lemmy after Reddit announced changes to its API policy. I maintain this project alongside @dessalines....

join-lemmy.org is promoting an instance with paedophilia
