I’m thinking of getting a second phone to ease off iOS. It has been good for productivity stuff but the closed off nature of the device keeps disrupting my plans. Everything is either expensive or ad ridden. (Except floccus, floccus is awesome)...
I use YouTube without being logged in and have some youtubers that I page manually from time to time to watch their new videos. Do you know of an extension for Firefox to privately add and manage those youtubers?
If I were you, I would just use Piped (piped.kavin.rocks). It stores all your subscriptions in Local Storage, and displays them in the “Feeds” section. The Feeds section also supports RSS, so you can get notified too. If you are on android, grab one of the Piped clients. NewPipe is the most recommended, but I really like the UI of LibreTube.
Oh boy, it’s happening. Google is flexing it’s muscles and abusing it’s market position. It has never been a better way to convince and support family and friends in moving across to Firefox, a fast and privacy supporting browser.
For androids, Lingva has a FOSS app, called Lentil Translate (I believe it’s not official), which you can easily find on F-Droid. Personally, the translations in the app seem a bit slow and buggy to me, but it works like a charm in the browser.
I just keep seeing this mouse everywhere, but it would make sense if it was a lemming. It's a lemming, right? Where does the name Lemmy come from anyways?
I've been in a rough place the past few weeks and could use some insight other than the usual: distract yourself, talk to friends, meditate, exercise, etc. Was there anything that you did or found that really helped to shift things for you?
Letting your emotions out. Maybe scream out a bit and let some of it go. Do not be too hard on yourself, and take your time.
Music may help as well. Do not turn to sad breakup songs. In my case, Metal was helpful (as I feel it is the most emotion-letting genre; weirdly, it is therapeutic), but this is not a general thing.
Probably maintain a journal and write out how you feel. Try to avoid stalking or mentioning your ex. Don't let those neural connections further strengthen.
The most helpful, I still think, would be to opening up and confiding in someone you trust. In my case, I didn't have any friends I could turn to, and so it took me far too long, but if you can, best to go this route.
I want to find or contribute to an open source Android app that behaves as a browser so that I can incorporate saving web pages to a specified (self-hosted) wallabag docker instance. Any suggestions?
