It’s a bit sad that people like this exist. It’s so much worse when there are enough of them to elect this kind of idiot.

Was there a competition for who could take a bad law and make it worse? Did I miss something?

The law was forcing news aggregators to pay to link to news sites… and now the revenue is going to the biggest corporations?

It won’t happen like that. Leadership will just under-hire and expect all their developers to be way more efficient. Working will be really stressful with increased deadlines and people questioning why you couldn’t meet them.

We have very different experiences. My friends also had a very different experience to you. We were all pretty desperate for jobs, and we weren’t even dealing with visas. Thankfully I landed one at a healthy place, but I would have taken anything at the time and jumped ship when the market was better.

TheRaven,

It’s a bit hard to generalize. Many of those people were on work visas and couldn’t jump ship easily. Others knew that the job market at the time was terrible and they would be unemployed for several months or more before finding something at a much lower pay, and they knew they couldn’t afford that.

You’re right that people shouldn’t work somewhere that abuses their workers. But it’s also sometimes not as easy as saying “just go somewhere else.”

They do. It’s likely that they aren’t aware that this store is trying to pull something illegal. Another form of action is to message Loblaws about this to make them aware.

TheRaven,

It sounds like the Labour Relations Board should be made aware of this branch.

So, the owner of this specific store posted it. As much as I hate how Loblaws has been capitalizing on peoples’ needs, this isn’t Loblaws, it’s the owner of one store.

But this also breaks labour laws. For-profit organizations can’t hire volunteers because it breaks minimum wage laws. An exception would be an internship for school.

Best thing to do is report it.

So, I assume Fox is selling this to RTV. The big issue I see is that future shows are made to potentially sell in the future. They first air in America, then get sold to Russia. All written with the end goal of selling to Russia.

You can also order HEPA filters for those furnaces that filter smoke well. And if you have enough of those filters, you can tape one to the front of a box fan for a makeshift air purifier.

Absolutely it’s the best way forward. The catch is that it’s hard to calculate. If I write an app that saves someone 3 minutes of each work day, how much am I taxed on what I automated? We can just tax the rich, and assume they automate away everyone’s jobs.

“Metro” is used formally and is a formal designation used for things like statistical purposes. “Greater” is less formal and is used by the general public. I’ve heard Greater Vancouver far more than Metro Vancouver, but with those definitions, there are likely both.

Correct answer. Sometimes I get things wrong, but I do my best to learn how I can do things to be more like this. Whatever label that is.

The IRS is not something we should be comparing ourselves to. They’re incredibly understaffed.

It’s like a tech company saying it has too many employees because they compare themselves to the employee count at Twitter. Sure, the numbers are small there, but…

Why Lucasfilm decided the High Republic is the future of Star Wars (www.polygon.com)

StarStar Wars doesn’t really have a future right now. The franchise itself does — it will keep getting new entries forever if Disney has anything to say about — but the story can’t escape the Skywalkers or imagine a future beyond the franchise’s most-featured family. In fact, most of the recent TV spinoffs, like The...

Because the High Republic is awesome and worth exploring. That’s why.

Also, they’re releasing a series of movies starting in 2026.

Tenants don’t have to foot unpaid tax bills for foreign landlords: minister - National | Globalnews.ca (globalnews.ca)

“I want to reassure Canadians that the Canada Revenue Agency does not intend to collect any portion of any non-resident landlords’ unpaid taxes from individual tenants,” read a statement released by Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau on X, formerly known as Twitter, Friday afternoon....

I’m happy with that as long as there are strict rules to allow the tenant to keep renting at the current rate.

The programmer in me definitely noticed the formatting issue.

For the record, my name isn’t actually Mike Smith.
