This post actually made me look for a solution and I found one! Solution to opening tiktoks without using tiktok app or site, not how to stop ur friends sending u garbage.
It made me think… mpv player can play basically any link you throw at it (thanks to yt-dlp), and we also have mpv on Android, so why can’t we do it there as well. And sure enough, I found this github.com/mpv-android/mpv-android/pull/58, someone baked yt-dlp in mpv for Android, making it possible to open link in mpv (share >> play in mpv)
Number of (active) Lemmy users seems to stabilize and I think this is a great thing. Indeed we got a lot of users when reddit shutdown its API (I was among them despite being a long time oss user), many have left, but the community seems now to stabilize to ~ ½ of the big grow in june '23. I think this is very nice for lemmy,...
Take those graphs with a grain of salt. There are several websites that track activity and all of them show different results. I also assume that almost every lemmy update affects these graphs, since things did break quite a few times.
This is from the official lemmy site join-lemmy. It says 820 Servers, 41k Active users
You can’t go wrong with taking inspiration from RES. Having a filter for the type of posts next to the sort type would be pretty good. That would require the posts to be discerned into categories (video, image, text…). I believe they currently aren’t?
I’ve made 3 comments in the past 2 days but none of them show up if I look at the home instance of the communities they’re on. They’re all on lemmy.world, but I see comments from other instances in the threads so I don’t think the problem is on their end....
I can touch type with a physical keyboard, which helps somewhat with trying to type on smartphone virtual keyboards, but I still find myself way clumsier and error-prone on them when I try to touch tap-type on them....
You can enable spell check underline even for keyboards that don’t have it, by changing which app it uses for spell checker specifically. In my case it’s under Android settings >> System >> Languages & input >> Spell checker (under the Tools category), It might be different on your phone, in that case I guess you can just search for “Spell checker” and then u can use Gboard for spell checking for example.
Yeah, I just tested it in Jerboa…I guess in some apps it just doesn’t work, probably depending on how the text box is implemented in the app or something, I’m not sure.
I didn’t have trouble with it so far because it has been working for all the apps that I use.
federation on my lemmy instance is broken, so this message will probably arrive very late

Play with the input you like to play, nobody cares.
In highly competitive games, I just wish they would separate ques by input, because aim assist in most games is cranked so high that it’s basically an aimbot.

Walking doesn’t really burn all that much calories, you likely overestimated how many calories you burnt and underestimated how many calories you took in.
I am looking for a nice ebook reader app for android but it’s proving to be quite difficult. Every app I stumble open misses at least a few things I want. So here is a list of things I want:...
Bit off-topic…Librera is decent but I hate that I can’t use custom background without changing the opacity. It seems like it doesn’t have the ability to use a background but it rather puts the image on top of the text and then lowers the opacity of the custom image, which doesn’t look nice.
