What would name would your drag persona (any gender) have?

I think I would want some really stupid real life thing/pun name, or maybe like a whole sentence even. Like for example, “The cardinal directions are north, south east, and west” or “Sorry” or “Maya Paula Jeese” or “Milk Toast”. Maybe even “Yorkshire Terrier” or “Jim(othy) Member”. Many options to...

Zathras,

Deja Fantasia - also my GW2 Mesmers name.

Zathras,

Similarly, science geeks of all sorts (biology, nature, space, math, physics, etc) should check out the mander.xyz communities.

!health is not terribly active but they have pinned posts of a lot of health based communities and resources in the fediverse.

Zathras,

This and Flame Spheres. Those were a lot of fun.

Zathras,

I like to separate my bars into Action vs Bonus Action as well as separate spells based on their spell level so I can keep better track of what I have, what is left, what actions are available.

I also collect pouches and backpacks to place objects in. My first pouch is healing and helpful potions. My second pouch is throwables, dipping materials, and arrows (anything to harm someone in combat). My third pouch is for scrolls on the characters that carry/use scrolls. I also put my shovel and anything else I want to have on me but want to accidentally sell it within a pouch. I then place the pouches on my hotbar on the far right instead of the individual objects (except for shovel). So during combat I know if I need to take a potion, it’s in the top bag, harmful items in the middle bag and scrolls in the bottom bag.

I have my bars extended to 3 vertical slots.

Re: skills and spells not falling off, I unfortunately do not have a solution.

Zathras,

I’d be surprised if this is a rising trend knowing how the cost of eggs has increased over the last couple of years. Just seems like a terrible waste.

Um... has anyone successfully made an Oathbreaker Paladin with the Dark Urge character? Maybe spoilers?

I don’t want to spoil this for anyone, however, something seems very very off to a point where I am doomed to fail in early Act 1. I created the Paladin, broke the oath, became an oathbreaker. Went off to the druid village, did the usual quests. Specifically - interacting with the musical tiefling who is writing a song....

Zathras,

Here’s the spoiler:

spoiler___ I was a level 4 Dark Urge Oathbreaker Paladin. I broke my oath before the first rest and the Oathbreaker Knight came to our camp. I spoke with him and agreed to be an Oathbreaker. Next day, we visit the Druid Camp where I spoke with, and played a song with the tiefling, Alfira. I won my rolls and she gave me the lute. I continue on my adventure and head to the place where Withers lives, clearing out that area, and after a few fights realize I need to long rest. We set up camp there and to my surprise Alfira comes to talk with me wanting to join us. I agree to this and finally hit the bedroll.
My character wakes up in the middle of the night to a violently dead Alfira and blood all over me. Clearly my dark urge did something that I couldn’t control. I cleaned everything up and went back to sleep. Upon awakening my party sees the horror of the bloody tiefling corpse and I told them I didn’t know what happened but think it could have been me, hoping for some sort of understanding from my party members. While they were startled but willing to work with me to help figure out what is wrong with me, the Oathbreaker Knight wasn’t having any of it and immediately puts us in combat with him. He is a level 12 Paladin with all 3 auras of each subclass of paladin on him with about 230 hitpoints. Now there’s no way my party can kill him. I can’t even hit him. So my options are 1) go back to a much earlier save and have another character try to interact with Alfira or just ignore her completely 2) respec my whole character, making it another class or 3) reroll from the begining and don’t choose the Dark Urge character.
I am in a co-op game and thinking the Dark Urge is likely to give us further problems down the road and I was looking forward to this character being a Bardadin for reasons, hence my interaction with Alfira in the first place. We ultimately chose to reroll the same classes, leaving the Dark Urge out for a solo run later down the line, as we had been planning this campaign for a bit and don’t want to encounter further surprises that might stop us in our tracks like this one.

Zathras,

Explained the situation in detail l in a reply to the earlier post.

Zathras,

Oh it was the hiccup at camp indeed! I explained it in more detail in a separate reply. Loving the game but hate to ruin someone else’s enjoyment of revealing storylines :)

Zathras,

We were camping inside the cathedral where you find Withers. Specifically, we made camp in the room where the 4 people attack you. I didn’t realize it was a proximity thing. Thanks for the input. That game may be salvageable after all.

Zathras,

Trying to become a more “active” listener. My brain tends to want to immediately come up with a response without fully waiting to hear the whole conversation. Hence often, I speak before I think and/or before the person I was listening to was finished talking. I am trying to quiet my brain until the speaker finishes their commentary before I pause and work on a thoughtful reply as opposed to blurting out the first thing that comes to my mind.

Zathras,

Do you have hide read posts as an option? Sync will hide all posts including pinned ones if you read them. Might want to play around with those settings.

Zathras,

As I have gotten older, the frequency of episodes have decreased. In my early 40’s now. I would say it occurs at least once every 3-4 months as opposed to weekly in my teens.

Zathras,

As a Druid = create water + lightning I believe if you are a spider and web an area, your companions can light it up with fire!

Zathras,

Excellent! Was waiting on an app to have mod tools. Thank you!

Zathras,

Mod removes them. Check the mod log. Nested posts get removed if parent posts are removed.

Zathras,

When my husband and I played, we just picked up who on the ship, and whoever talked to them stuck with them. Once you get off the ship and pick them up, you should be able to freely send them to camp and pick them up there through dialogue options. This would be the more tedious way versus through the session manager.

Zathras,

I enjoy listening to the insults the bard hurls at enemies too! 😆

Zathras, (edited )
  1. it is definitely different in the sense that different characters (race, class, skills, and abilities) play a major role in dialogue choices, so it is important to pay attention to conversational choices because they will influence the nature of your game. Whereas most RPGs I’ve played before, you might have dialogue options, but you essentially get to the same outcomes.
  2. The in-game tutorials are mostly for UI/functional options. As another community member suggested, might want to watch a quick tutorial video. There are a bunch out there.
  3. There are 3 difficulty levels. Default is normal. I would suggest drop it to he story level to start out. The biggest differences between story and normal I know of or have experienced are 1) no multiclassing in story 2) mobs hit a bit harder/your spells don’t hit as hard in normal mode 3) finding random things with perception checks occur way more on story mode.
  4. like any new games, trial and error. Quick save often!
  5. The only real rules deal with combat. You can sneak into an area and as long as enemies don’t see you (noted by the red on the ground while in sneak mode) you can do anything until enemy sees you or you hit them with something from range. After that, it is turn-based and will use the D&D rules. Each turn has 3 things you can do 1) movement, 2) action, 3) bonus action and you can generally use them in any order. Once all those are done, end your turn and it’s the next enemy or players turn. It would probably be beneficial to watch a quick video guide on basic combat rules. Each class has different advantages and limitations, so might want to watch a guide on whichever class you choose to play. You will learn as you go along. Again, remember to save frequently! Even as semi-experienced players, my husband and I are always trying new things and reloading the game to redo when we mess something up.
  6. The game is very casual friendly. It will take a long time to finish it, but you won’t need to remember all the details. There’s a journal to remind you of new and completed quests.

Honestly we are having the most fun exploring things and trying different dialogue options. If we feel we don’t like the outcome, we just reload a previous save and try again until we are happy to move on.

There is no right way to play the game. Just enjoy the story and exploring. Happy adventuring!

PS - save frequently!

Zathras,

Husband and I have been playing for a few weeks (with early access) and that’s how it was for us. If you manage to pull off a surprise attack while still in stealth, you can get more as long as your character(s) are not seen. However if the enemy spots just one (or more) of your characters, let’s say the “surprise attacker”, they will start the next round without those characters not seen or engaged in the attack until you bring them in sight or in combat. Essentially, you can attempt to use that as a surprise attack for a second/third character if they attack from outside the visual range of the enemy. Then they will get placed into the initiative queue. At least that is what we’ve experienced.

[Potential Spoilers] Best example is outside the cathedral with Gimblebock, the mage, the archer and the other guy. If we sneak up behind the archer, we can kill him without the others spotting us. Then we get our furthest ranged casts and dual hit the mage at the same time, killing her. At that point the other two downstairs realize there’s a fight and we force them to come upstairs to fight us. Still may have to walk the non-caster party members to actively join the combat queue.

Before you end turn of your suprise attacker, use that time to bring everyone else into combat, then end your turn. We learned that the hard way, fighting a group of mobs when Shadowheart or some other companion is still just sitting outside.

Zathras,

I am downloading on both mine and my husband’s computers. I am currently at 145 Mbps with a peak pf 220 Mbps. His is 95 Mbps peak at 162.

Double check your options under Steam settings -> downloads to optimize your settings.

Zathras,

I love watching the bear (and other druid forms) sneak when you put them in stealth.
