Sorry, but that doesn’t really work. I can expand your terminal answer as much as you did the gui one. You have to open the terminal, use the man page for apt to find out how to search for a packages name, search for a package and hopefully find it, then you need to run another command with that package name to install it.
Meanwhile, I can shorten the gui example to “It take me two seconds to use the search bar and click install”
They all have their ups and downs, guis are just easier and more intuitive for people who don’t live and breath terminal commands. Terminals can be extremely confusing for them, having never used one before.
Ehhh, any time I try a new distro I realize after a half dozen apps dont work, that its because its using wayland by default. X11 just works, wayland is a mess.
The 970 unfortunately doesn’t have h265 hardware in it. The only gpu in that generation that does is the 960, as it was released later than the others and was one of the first to get h265. I ended up just getting a p400, and it’s been rock solid.
I’m looking for something to replace cloud storage for myself and family. I’ve tried to use/like NextCloud but honestly I despise it. The UI/UX really bothers me, and administering it is a pain. It also just does way more that I want or need....
I am in Canada, the Brisk Fruit Punch flavour was discontinued here. I guess it could be possible to import it if its still available in the US. I quite liked it, though not sure I liked it enough to pay the import and shipping fees Canadians are slapped with… Maybe I’ll order it once just to relive my college days once again haha
As for the sidekicks alfredo, I was talking about specifically their garlic alfredo spaghetti. They have a couple other alfredo packets that are fairly different to the one I am talking about. None of them were ever quite the same!
I’m looking for an easy way to upload files from my Android smartphone to my home server. is there a - ideally dockerized - solution for that? Some simple web GUI where I can click on “Upload” and the files will be saved to a certain directory on my home server?...
You could technically do this with Nextcloud, but that is definitely overkill just for a file drop.
The next best thing I can think of for this would be localsend with auto accept enabled.
We see the nearly 33-year-old OS’s market share growing 31.3 percent from June 2023, when we last reported on Linux market share, to February. Since June, Linux usage has mostly increased gradually. What kind of things got worse with outlook? I still use it for work, and the ui has changed, sure, but still seems to do everything it used to. In fact, the progressive web app even works quite well on linux!
I have an 8gb Raspberry Pi 4 that has been a workhorse for years. I keep it for my not intense but essential networking purposes, NetBoot.xyz, Homepage, etc., because I can run it over PoE (edit: Power over Ethernet), so it is always on as long as my network is up....
I also find being able to so easily adjust the priority of results to be awesome. For example, some sites like amazon, Home Depot, and Audible, I want the canadian sites always over the american ones. So i can lower the priority of .com and raise .ca with two clicks.
Ehh, i dont really see a problem driving that long as long as you start it when you first get up for the day. I do 8 hour drives multiple times a year to go see family and only stop after 6 hours to gas up, then continue on. With how quick gasing up is with paying at the pump these days, 3 minutes of stop doesn’t sound to far fetched.
Same here in canada, but we also have to deal with winter being 50% of the year here. Charging and batteries need to come a loooong way before we can even think about having one…
I live in canada, and the charging infrastructure is very bad here. In fact, my usual drive probably isn’t even possible in the winter due to a lack of charging points with how little range the cars have in winter here.
Would love to know what you guys think and your reasoning for it. I’m starting to see a lot of Apple Watches/Fitbits/Galaxy Watches in my area compared to more traditional timepieces.
They are really nice for keeping on top of notifications, but as a person who can’t stand wearing a watch but also likes to deal with notifications immediately, I am torn lol
A fitbit inspire is pretty good for that, but it’s only slightly more bearable than a full watch for me
