Oh, I try, but I use “ok google” and my girlfriend’s phone, my mum’s phone, my kiddo’s phone and my own all then set timers. And then they won’t stop going off from my voice command, even though they started from my voice command.

It’s crazy when I’m in the kitchen :P

Change your language settings in your preferences. It will only show posts and comments in the languages you have selected.

Where it gets tricky is that many people post without using a language tag to say what language they’re posting in. You can choose whether to view untagged comments and posts or not, but you can’t filter it by language if the poster hasn’t set a tag

Silly noob question, but...like, why aren't revenants undead?

I should probably preface this with that I haven’t actually had a chance to play the game yet. I’m just looking at the materials and trying to learn for now. Not to mention, it doesn’t really impact my character-designing decisions too much, but the more I think about it the more odd it is....

If I had to guess (and that’s all this is), there is probably a core rules setting that stops backgrounds from changing ancestry characteristics

How to get over not having a good college experience?

I’m going into my last year of college and I kinda felt like I did college wrong. Like, my grades are good but everything else about college I failed at. Like socially and stuff, after 4 years I barely know anybody. I commuted(to avoid debt, and did so successfully) so maybe that’s part of my problem....

It depends what you mean by “get over it”. You’ll possibly never feel good about it. But that doesn’t mean that a bad time has to keep causing you to have more bad times.

I look it this way. Bad times may be living rent free in my head and I may not have any luck evicting them. That means I’ll run in to them from time to time in my mental hallways. What it doesn’t mean though is that I have to drop in and visit them everyday on top of that

Their explicit and active protection of the rights of bigots over the wellbeing of the people those bigots are targeting

I’ve always had positive self image, so I’m not sure how to give a meaningful comparison.

For what it’s worth though, that doesn’t mean I’ve always had great mental health. I have struggled with self flagellation regarding my ADHD and my orientation. There are parts of me I wish were different. But none of those things have ever made me think that I, the person behind all of that is unworthy or unlovable.

I see my imperfections, and even though I sometimes see them inaccurately through an overly negative lens, even then, they’re only parts of my story and who I am, and I overall, I love the person I am.

That doesn’t directly address some of your questions, but hopefully it helps in giving some insight in to another perspective.

“Many people have blocked the BBC for posting transphobic content that is harmful to trans folk”

“Hey, can you please share some of that harmful content?”

There are links to various articles about it in this discussion tree. You’re either not looking hard for sources, or you’re being disingenuous. I hope it’s the former, but experience tells me it’s the latter.

does anyone else feel enslaved?

When I was growing up the internet was a place to be liberated from the world say what you want to say, be whoever you want and form genuine communities with shared interests. Now the internet feels like a tool to enslave the mind with identity echo chambers and any deviation leads you to being banned and blocked shunned and...

I get what you mean, but I also feel like the fediverse has given many of us a return to some of the freedoms and feelings of the early internet.

I’m writing this from an instance I admin, an instance that exists, specifically to make a better world for queer and gender diverse folk. We prioritise minority safety over “federate with everyone”, but that freedom to exist without institutionalised transphobia being ignored like it is on most social media platforms, with the ability for us to exist and communicate without being dogpiled by haters, and to actively remove the bigots, that is a freedom I haven’t felt in a long time!
