I’m curious about the decision OpenAI made about making most of the paid stuff free (with usage limits). Unless someone uses it dozens of times a day, it’s not worth $20.

I have two theories about this change. Either they’ve found a better income model because not many people were paying for it already and decided to slowly kill it, or they’re having trouble training GPT-5 and need more data from users and this is the way they’re trying to solve it.

The wildest bag someone recommended from this post is the TomToc Navigator. It's 40L, but only weighs 2.8 lb, has water bottle holders, compression straps, great laptop/iPad compartment, and one massive clamshell bucket for clothes. And it's only $80, which concerningly cheap

If they used X-Pac or a nicer material it could be even lighter and more durable, add in stowable straps, would be an absolute slam dunk

@christianselig I’ve been using the 17L model of that bag for daily stuff and short work trips and I love it. It has all the high quality stuff I look for in the bag and my go-to recommendation for people now.

No, you just bought some early-access cyberpunk heist game on Steam because it was on offer and you thought it might be a laugh

ahmetasabanci,
@ahmetasabanci@mastodon.social avatar

@PaulGrahamRaven I would but I have no idea what it is called :)

ahmetasabanci,
@ahmetasabanci@mastodon.social avatar

@PaulGrahamRaven game looks really good. I’m not really good at stealth games too but turn based strategy plus cyberpunk means I need to get it. :)

ahmetasabanci,
@ahmetasabanci@mastodon.social avatar

@PaulGrahamRaven Added to my wishlist to wait for that. I’ve been also feeling the urge to playing a more stealth focused game, and thinking about reinstalling some of the MGS games but playing a new game is always better.

Fully agree with you on hacking comments btw. Whenever I read that about a game it turns out the kind of thing I’m looking for.

Tonight I gave an online workshop to a group of people who were accepted to one of our media incubator programs to develop their projects. And there were five AI meeting assistants on the call instead of those five applicants.

On the one hand I’m really pissed off about their laziness and disrespect. But on the other hand, I’m kinda happy because the assistant doesn’t understand a single word of Turkish and they ended up with bunch of garbage text.

I’m doing my best to avoid latest #discourse because people trying to make it a thing have no idea how nonprofits work and as someone who spends most of his working time in or around nonprofits I really don’t have time to explain things to people who clearly have no interest in understanding it.

ahmetasabanci,
@ahmetasabanci@mastodon.social avatar

Trust me, if you knew how nonprofits work or what kinds of troubles they deal with every day you’d immediately see that no one would even consider it as a tool for the conspiracies you think about. It’s worse than the worst possible option.

    @lzg I consider these two books and the authors as classics from Turkey. Pamuk is more available in English, Kemal has only couple of his work translated.

    Saw a review of the Humane AI Pin thingy which is - surprising exactly nobody - basically a glorified proof of concept that doesn't really work and let's user's imagination of what it could be do the heavy lifting.

    But what I keep wondering is the voice thing: The interface is basically only speaking to it. And even if that wasn't an issue for people with speech impediments, dialects, loud environments etc. is that really what's gonna be acceptable?

    It might make sense if you work from home, alone in your office giving orders. But on a plane? A train? In the supermarket? Do we really think people will actually dictate their messages or tell some device to "add preparation h to the shopping list"?

    I think the movie "Her" (and Start Trek TNG) has sold the public on voice as the perfect interface but it's really not for anything besides very rudimentary stuff.

    (You don't need to tell me that you use voice commands all the time.)

    ahmetasabanci,
    @ahmetasabanci@mastodon.social avatar

    @tante I don’t think using voice as the main interface that strange for many people. I agree with potential issues but also I see many people around me preferring to send voice messages or using dictation to communicate and in the recent years first interaction with tech for kids has become saying commands or asking Google/Youtube to search something because they can’t write. There’s definitely a familiarity with voice interface already exists and people are comfortable using it.
