Listening to Billy Joel's “52nd Street“ album and suddenly wonder... “what's this Steely Dan track doing here, am I on some weird shuffle? Doesn't really sound like Fagen vocals though…”
Turns out I was listening to track 4, “Zanzibar” - clearly inspired by the west coast dudes 🎹
#AITA ? I mean this in the most supportive way, but we need to talk about yellow. As in very light skinned people should choose basically any other color as their top. Just watched the #MetGala, and... that objectively stunning Elizabeth Debicki and whoever the charming +1 to Kieran Culkin was-yellow is NOT a charming color for very white people.
Sure, any Latina, Black or Indian person can rock it, caucasian people just look sick from that reflection.
One of my absolute favorite tracks since childhood is the live version of "Lazy" by Deep Purple, recorded in Tokyo, 1972. Sure, it starts off kinda weird, so I don't blame anyone for skipping ahead to around the 1:50 mark, but man... does it take off from there. You can tell the guys had fun, and a Hammond B3 never sounded this good.
