The best part is that Hitler didn’t win, Hindenburg won with 53% of the vote, and proceeded to staff all the positions of power with nazis, and then hand power over to Hitler.
The social democrats split from the communists and supported Hindenburg because “this is the most important election ever” and “we need unity and bipartisanship” type rhetoric.
Naturally that unity and bipartisanship meant working with the fascists against the communists.
The communists, ever cursed with Casandra Syndrome, ran on “A vote for Hindenburg is a vote for Hitler; a vote for Hitler is a vote for war.”

Does this mean BYD will be able to sell Mexican produced cars in America?
I’d honestly be surprised if they didn’t update the laws to prevent Chinese competition no matter what the companies do. They’ve done it for the auto industry in the past, to countries they’re not hostile towards, and they’ve done it to Chinese companies in other industries with substantial lobbying dollars, notably phones, IT infra, social media, and weapon manufacture.
So in your opinion, material conditions (such as housing and healthcare) aren’t the cause of the mental health crisis? People just need to talk about it more and it will all go away?
To me, the start of a solution must lead to the solution.
I don’t see how conversations on individual people’s mental health leads to changes in material conditions. To me that reads as “more people need to individually seek or be encouraged to seek therapy” than addressing the material conditions.
I don’t see the dems using abortion to bring out votes if it’s not a referendum.
Given that they let this happen by not codifying roe and let it continue to happen by not taking effective action such as cutting off states funding that ban abortion or requiring military hospitals provide abortion care, they cannot credibly say they will protect abortion.
That would change if we saw them using every tool at their disposal, but we don’t.
The argument that the dems are making is “vote for me and I’ll protect abortion rights”.
We voted for them, they didn’t protect abortion rights.
But also, choosing not to stop something bad from happening makes you complicit.
This isn’t an argument that pro-choice voters should vote for republicans, this is an argument that the dems need to do something if they want pro-choice people to vote for them.
Same thing with the genocide in Palestine; Dems cannot run as the anti-genocide party while supplying the tools to carry out the genocide. If they stopped sending weapons to Israel and used every tool at their disposal to protect abortion rights, then they could credibly say “vote for us, we’ll protect abortion rights and stop Israel”.
The big mistake was Hillary running a dogshit campaign of “America is already great” and not offering enough to make it worth missing a day’s pay to go out and vote. It’s not the voter’s duty to vote democrat, it’s the democrat’s job to get elected.
If you’re talking about the courts, the dems could have packed them. If people saw them fighting and actually affecting their material conditions, the dems wouldn’t have lost in 2022.

The US accepts Japan’s conditional surrender, the one that Japan was sending in hopes that the US would offer them a better deal now than after the USSR finished kicking them off the mainland.
The US stopped selling oil to Japan. Japan needed oil to maintain their empire and fight the USSR, so they interpreted it as the US weakening Japan for a near-future war.
The soviets were already involved, Japan lost Manchuria and were getting kicked out of Korea when Japan started offering surrender to the US.
Also there were 2 iron curtains, after Japan surrendered to the US, the US told the Japanese forces in Korea not to evacuate until the US got in and implemented martial law in the south, holding a sham election for a US-friendly puppet (whose administration included compradors who’d worked with the Japanese occupiers).

I’m not dunking on their writers, just how Al and AI look the same in most fonts.
