The biggest cultural shock after moving to Berlin years ago and something that I will never get used to is attitudes towards sanitation and cleanliness at places that you would expect at least a minimum effort to be made like at gyms, restaurants and furniture shops.

In essence, German business owners love having a Reinigungskonzept but have no idea about the value of or how to clean themselves.

My advice about backend development:

#Galeria / #Karstadt is struggling to move inventory and generally survive the current retail market and the blame seems to be put on online retailers taking their slices of the cake.

So here's a couple of free ideas for them:

1. I feel unsafe when my phone drops offline. Where are the 5G cells and free WiFi access points in those thick concrete buildings?

2. Cleanliness and security outside of main entrances. Access from the U-Bahn and parking structures feels like walking into a drug den.

My work on the #WordPress Gutenberg editor back in 2018, which was essentially to replace the date picker with a different component and then tweaking some accessibility related things clocked in at 111 hours.

It could have been a day's work in an optimal environment.

This mainly had to do with waiting for feedback and dealing with management and leadership issues.

The date picker was then replaced a couple of years later with a different component.
