@christianselig I just swapped my ‘21 Model 3 for a ‘24 Honda. It was mostly because my new apartment doesn’t have chargers, but the brand damage Elon has done to Tesla also played a huge factor.

@MuseumShuffle @christianselig I desperately wanted the civic hybrid hatch but since it isn’t out yet I got the ‘24 Accord touring and will baby it until I can trade in. I think the hatch won’t be out until EOY at earliest sadly

@MuseumShuffle @christianselig it has CarPlay, it’s just got this google system built in. & yea the hybrid is peppy! I think that drivetrain on the lighter civic hatch will be super good. The accord is just a bit too huge for me

My SwiftUI previews for Please Don’t Rain stopped working and I couldn’t figure out why. I finally filed a TSI asking for help.

I have my answer.

They broke because I have an apostrophe in my app name. 😭

In order to get them working again now they are suggesting I do a “pretty thorough rename” throughout the app. My concern about breaking something else (and the time it would take to fix) is greatly overwhelming my desire to use previews that haven’t worked for months.

This keyboard looks like it’s been kicked around. But it’s been taken care of well and is only two years old. Sure, I use it daily. But that level of wear and tear on the keys is a bit rubbish.

Are other comparable brands more durable? (And even if this was down to Apple skimping on durability for $$$, it’s not like I can replace this keyboard anyway like-for-like, because it has a tint that matches my iMac.)

@craiggrannell @craiggrannell Mac mechanical keyboards are elite, and you can almost always color them however you like. They’ll never wear down either. I currently have a keychron, but many other brands like varmilo etc are all rock solid.

Keyboards are in a great state rn.

I personally prefer blue switches, but of course a switch tester can help

@craiggrannell you can’t fix the Touch ID part yea, I just have my Apple Watch automatically unlock my Mac. There’s plenty of silent low profile switches for mechanical keyboards (like the keychron ultra slim) but nothing exactly like the Mac one but more durable

@craiggrannell just make sure you like the switches! Browns are a popular middle ground, reds are silent silent but super loose. I’m heavy handed so blues.

Willing to bet that you never want to stop using mechanical after a bit haha

So as (someone?) recommended, I installed Keka instead of the Unarchiver and it looks nice but I am sure the next time I need to know what’s it called I will have no idea.

Please name your apps like “Keka archiver” or something old people with defective memory chips may find by searching. “Made a zip in keka. Attached it to a mail I wrote in Groumpf to a contact I had stored in Yoplà based on a note from Joplin” (at least one of these is an actual app).

@santiago @keka is a great product but I think they're missing something all MacOS apps need, MDItemKeywords! They should definitely have archive,unarchive,zip,unzip, etc. Great post by @marioguzman on this

I just got a photos memory that showed it was one year ago that this arrived.

As someone who did not enjoy (or finish) Breath of the Wild I was really unsure if I was making a mistake buying this to play Tears of the Kingdom.

I ended up loving it and sinking an absurd amount of hours into it before finishing the main story.

@MuseumShuffle ooo valid, tbh my enjoyment might be tied to the fact that I abused the shit out of item duplication in TOTK because spending hours mining didn’t seem fun. Grindyness like that isn’t my cup of tea, in BOTW I could run around perfect timing with whatever weapon etc.

The engineering elements of TOTK are soooo fun though, and yes the shrines are a lot more varied.

@MuseumShuffle why did you not like BOTW? Personally I think both games are very good but the guardians / etc in BOTW were so good, including the furious 🎹 , and I felt like that intensity was missing from TOTK

The only other game I really loved was Wind Waker as a kid, which is similar to BOTW tbh. I don’t play video games much at all, so I don’t have a huge opinion. Animal Crossing gripped me during the pandemi though.

I'm legitimately excited about getting new iPad Pros. I know several devs who don't have an iPad or don't use theirs but it's honestly my most used Apple device.

When I'm on my Mac my iPad is on a stand next to it and I use them both. When I'm not using my Mac at home I carry my iPad around with me.

I barely use my iPhone when I'm at home, which is one of the reasons why it's so frustrating that iPadOS often gets features a year (or more) after iOS.
