Hmmm, difficult. Maybe it's Friedrich of Swabia, the future Emperor Barbarossa. Yusuf bin Ayyub, the future Saladin, is still a little boy.
Max and Katja both only take over leadership when there's no one they can rely on. It's the way they were raised.

Ich bin fertig mit meiner Überarbeitung von #IrrfahrtInsGelobteLand!! Hochgeladen isses, und Paperback und Hardcover sind als Autorenexemplare bestellt.

Es ist 15 Jahre her, dass ich mir die Geschichte ausgedacht habe. Und ich muss ganz schamlos feststellen - ich liebe sie heute noch so wie damals. Vielleicht kicke ich bei der englischen Version ein paar Details über Staufer und Welfen raus, aber ansonsten... Ich lieb's immer noch 😍

Und jetzt bin ich schon still 😅

Wenn es veröffentlicht ist, gehört es nicht mehr allein mir. Ich kann die Gedanken anderer Menschen nicht kontrollieren.

Aber mir ist bei der Revision von #IrrfahrtInsGelobteLand aufgefallen, dass ein Aspekt als Homophobie verstanden werden könnte. Das musste ich jetzt doch in Hinweis und Nachwort klarstellen.

Who is the antagonist? As in many of my stories, these roles are fluent.

Katja loved the Feast of Fools. It's comparable to carnival - the winter is kicked out of town and spring is invited in. People use masks to scare away the monsters.

Yes. Katja is a normal girl of her time, no rebel. She's thrown into circumstances that make her question certain things, and she does develop a quite liberal view after a while - but on the whole, she’s fine with the rules.
If push came to shove, she might challenge them more because of her empathic nature.

#writerscoffeeclub May 9. What's the minimum time you can work on your writing? Do you need a long, clear period?

I work best if I have 45-60 min before I have to do something else, at least. The longer the time, the better I am. If it's only 15 min, I don't get into the right headspace.

Welche Rolle spielt für Dich der Erzählstil? Entscheidend oder Nebensache ggn. der Handlung? Was gefällt und was nicht?

Sehr wichtig. Ich hasse permanente Wiederholungen, ständige Halbsätze und tausend verschiedene Protagonisten. Da bin ich meistens schon nach ein paar Seiten raus.

Früher war ich da etwas resistenter, aber zu viel editing hat mich sensibel gemacht. Wenn ich mit dem Rotstift durch ein Buch will, kann ich es nicht lesen.

#phantastikprompts 09.05. Thema World-Building: welche Hintergründe (z.B. Technik, Natur, Politik, Magie, …) sind dir am wichtigsten und erklärst/entwickelst du am liebsten?

Tatsächlich erkläre ich ungern etwas in meinen Geschichten. Aber mir ist wichtig, dass die Fakten stimmen - d.h. intensive Recherche bei historical, v.a. Kleidung, Umgangsformen, Sitten - und logischer Weltenbau bei Fantasy (Magie, Legenden, Politik).
Am liebsten ist mir, ich weiß das alles u schreibe einfach drauf los. 😅

I don't care much for technical stuff, thus, I usually gloss over these things. I do try not to make big blunders, though.

Science, however, is important for me. (Unless it's fantasy, of course. Everything is cool in fantasy.) I might not explain everything, but it should never go against the laws of science.

And don't even get me started on medical...

Ich muss gestehen, das Ende der Erdzauber Trilogie von Patricia McKillip hat mich doch sehr überrascht. Andere mögen es haben kommen sehen, ich nicht.
Und ich fand es toll.

A ton of things.

• Homosexuality is punishable by death in most countries (I did NOT make up these rules: Europe/Middle East in the 12th century).
• Don't contradict the church.
• Wife, don't contradict your husband (much, it's not quite as bad as 19th century).
• Child, don't contradict your parents.
• etc, etc, etc.

I'm so glad I did not live in that time, tbh.
