@flexghost And another one…Bridge of Sighs is an album I just discovered this year, it’s amazing. The label just released a 50th anniversary edition that has a blu ray with a 5.1 mix and a bunch of unreleased tracks…I just got it in the other day but haven’t listened to the 5.1 mix yet. But I’m confident it’s gonna be tits.

@flexghost This is I guess…prog-adjacent? It’s definitely on the technical side. But also just flat out rocks. I like this whole album but this is my favorite song on it (probably also influenced by the fact that it’s the first song of theirs I heard). I don’t think they’re around anymore, and they only put out 3 albums (or is it 2 albums and an EP? Don’t remember…)

@scttgrd @vinylrecords It’s a weight that is supposed to help with records that are warped at all, to keep them more firmly on the mat. I’m dubious of it making much of a difference, but it has a bubble level on it which I used when I got my turntable to level it, and I think it looks cool 🤷🏻‍♂️

What’s your method? Mine is distilled water, vacuum, then cleaner, vacuum, then distilled water with a different brush, vacuum.

@vcaston @vinylrecords yes - it is the distilled water along with isopropyl and a surfactant called Triton X-100. I used the method in this video:

I've since learned that Tergikleen is much better for the environment and just as effective, so I will probably switch to that surfactant next...but it will be a while because I have enough surfactant for hundreds of cleanings, I think.

@revivalrecords @vinylrecords I had good results with the spin clean as well, which I think is functionally equivalent to the antistat for the most part. My biggest issue was that if I only wanted to clean one or a few records I felt like I was wasting fluid. I’d put the cover on and try to make a pile of records to clean in the course of the following week, which was the recommended maximum time to keep a bin of fluid.
