@chris Twitter was great because it was the one place where everyone was - now everyone's spread out - I hate having to use like 3 different apps to keep up with all of the discussion but it is what it is
@chris I love the community over here - a lot of my favorite phish folks & discussion - but it's a far cry from the "everyone/everything/all the time" vibe on old twitter. I keep up with Threads too, lots of random timewasting over there, but 0 phish discussion and it sucks at real-time events anyway
Ten tracks of just what it says on the tin: Psychedelic Ghost Stories. Wizard synth anthems, dubbed-out ghostwave, deep dives into the dark corners of psychedelia. Have a listen. Tell your friends. Check it out for the first time, or the 50th. Speaking of 50, get me to 50 streams today and I'll release a bunch of free download codes for it.
Boosts appreciated. Taking the time to listen to a few tracks appreciated even more.
I've got new music - it's a side-project from my main band - a sax/drums/piano neo-jazz trio - you can listen and learn more about Jade Trio here - https://andrewnorthrocks.com/jadetrio
"Grok" being the name for an AI chatbot is just the latest example of tech bros not understanding science fiction. In "Strangers In a Strange Land", the famous 1950's novel the term comes from, to "grok" something is to understand it on a deep level. AI chatbots, as we all know by now, do not grok—they bullshit.
I'm really tired of sci-fi terms being used by people who read the books and got nothing from them beyond “lol this word sounds cool”. (See also: “metaverse”.)
@jhpot It's beyond just "the word sounds cool" though - they want to disingenuously give the impression that it understands more than it does - which makes it even grosser. The term AI for these models is already misleading enough
Incredible musical conversations in this corner of the internet today!
I was just talking about swing and whenever I do I share this 2-minute clip.
This is the former Principal Trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera, Mark Gould, talking about swing within classical music. It has nothing to do with swung 8th notes like jazz.
Swing is the difference between great jam bands and ones that make me grind my teeth. Same for prog rock or classical musicians.
