animist,

No idea why those who own the IP don’t just either open source them or release them into the public domain

animist,

So are ars technica and gizmodo, which are also just giant Apple advertisement sites

animist,

because the snap folder in your home directory by default starts with a lowercase letter while all the other folders start with uppercase (hidden folders don’t count)

all other reasons are secondary

animist,

rpms were a pain for me when i transitioned as well but I’ve learned to love them

Opinion: After Microsoft defeat, ‘toothless’ FTC needs to pick better battles if it wants to rein in Big Tech (www.marketwatch.com)

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s defeat as it sought to block Microsoft Corp.’s acquisition of videogame maker Activision Blizzard is yet another setback for an increasingly toothless regulator that needs to pick better battles with Big Tech.

animist,

Lmao that country is so fucked

Anybody with an education and a conscience should leave asap

animist,

Connolly provided some possible reasons for the new behavior.

First, he said, consumers may be trying to save money because this summer will likely be “more travel intensive” than last year, something he believes will be a temporary shift.

Other reasons he gave include deflationary trends in a few single-ingredient items and lower pension incomes.

Regarding what the company can do to stimulate demand, Connolly said he is not a fan of deep-discount promotions, because those tend to train the shopper to look for deals.

“So we don’t like those kinds of promotions,” he said. “But in the current environment with the consumer that is cutting back and making other choices, we probably are more likely to see some players resort to harder deals to stimulate units.”

Blind tone deaf MBA piece of shit

So glad that stupid meme-of-the-week trends are finding their way over here from Reddit, too. I just love reading 50+ instances of the same unfunny joke in a row.

animist,

I usually block the people who post them since it’s obvious they’re low-effort posters anyway

Refusing to use Signal: "I have too many messaging apps"

Not sure if any of you have encountered the same resistance to using Signal. Some of my cousins refused to use Signal because they are already using “too many chat apps” (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Telegram, Line, Snapchat, etc.). To them, Signal will just be another chat app among their numerous other chat...

animist,

That’s obviously not what they’re saying. Stop being so negative towards strangers on the Internet.

animist,

It was not foolish. It was a security decision and the right one. The goal of signal isn’t to have billions of users, the goal is to become a privacy and security centered app. If a feature prevents that it should be immediately removed.

animist,

“This is the only one I use. If you need to reach me either do it on that or email me.” Worked for my family.

animist,

How is it locking in if it is obvious they did something that 1) many people don’t like and thus left signal for and 2) as you pointed out, they have many identical competitors? That’s not convincing at all given the other parts of your argument.

animist,

ITT: people subscribing to a community for a free app they no longer use so they can keep bashing it for removing the one feature that kept memaw using it

People are EXTREMELY entitled

animist,

Eh this is one of those times that a broken tankie clock is correct
