THREE styles of New York pizza? Including a “grandmother style” from Long Island? I would love if @atpfm and especially @siracusa could sort out what a New York style pizza really is. Heh or maybe that’s one for @robot …? 😊
@gedeonm Saw the same Cyber Truck drive by the same café in #Seattle at the same time on consecutive Wednesdays, which makes me wonder if Tesla dealerships drive them around on a schedule to show them off.
My grandmother passed away today. I feel so privileged to have known her, and for my children – her great-grandchildren! – to have known her too. 98 is a fantastic age, and I’ll always remember her love and kindness ❤️
@twostraws So sorry for your loss. From the photo it looks like she kept the spark all along and made it another sparkle in the sky to remember her by.
I have some personal news. Today is my last day at Apple. You can read the text of the goodbye letter I tearfully sent at the link below. I'm taking a brief break to catch my breath, but I'll be very excited to share what's next for me when my start date gets a little closer.
To the developer community: thank you. I've loved being a part of your journey, and I'm so eager to watch your success and continue to buy your apps. You are all magic. Now here, take a dog photo.
@superbetsy Wow, I am so happy for you that you got to pitch in for so long for the company you set out to pitch in for from such a young age. I’m one of those random people who are super excited what you’ll do next. To infinity… and beyond! 😊
Current status on my quest to buy an espresso machine is that I talked to my local espresso machine pusher, who convinced me not to splurge on a fully automatic machine and ended up giving me even more doubts as to what to buy 😄
@simonbs I think it’s up to whether of not you’re interested in learning about espresso or if you merely want to drink it.
The more you want to learn, the more skewed towards manual you’d go, and the more you don’t care and just want to drink it, the more automatic you’d go.
When I got my first espresso machine, I was all about learning, so I went full on manual with the La Pavoni Europiccola.
Now that I am somewhat knowledgeable, I have a “less hand cranked” machine. 😊
@simonbs I’m very happy with this little compact one from Breville/Sage. I’m allergic to the little displays on their other models, which is why I opted for display free, but it’s been really solid for many years, so I’d trust their other ones as well.
@hotdogsladies@marcoarment LOL this is how good I wish my shared clips would sound if clips used the same smart silence as the player. Which makes me think Ira Glass’ team thought the same and manually tightened things up.
Best-selling author (and my literal favorite person on the planet), @everywhereist, is in conversation with @seattlefoodgeek for the launch of her new book: If You Can't Take the Heat.
@randfish@everywhereist@seattlefoodgeek omg I assumed I already followed you all over here as I did on Twitter, but seems like I didn’t catch you with those Mastodon migration tools before they were disabled. So glad you used the #Seattle hashtag so that you reappeared in my feed and I could re-follow all three of you.
@christianselig@simonbs For the longest time, it was only my Apple TV that would be dumb enough to say something was added to my “shopping list list” but more recently it arrived everywhere. So it’s as if they had two parallel code bases and merged the dumber in to the smarter instead of the other way around.
“…we have not taken issue with the level of the fee.
[…] is that a fee structure that has been made up in order to prevent people from getting the benefits of [the DMA?].
[…] we will definitely look at this in great detail, and if we find that there's reason to suspect that this has been put up in order to prevent the DMA from working for those who are in an Apple ecosystem, well, then we might very well open a non-compliance case.”
Boy the Apple Private Relay thing continues to be a problem for Tapestry Kickstarter backers. Don’t worry though, we’ll get your reward delivery sorted. 👍
@gedeonm hahaha ok. I was slow so I didn’t get my pixel upgrade in until the third round, and I realized from the get go that my best approach was to simply try and forget about it so that it just comes as a pleasant surprise one sunny day 😊
Moffat Is Back! Steven Moffat Writes Episode For New Season of Doctor Who With Julie-Anne Robinson Directing
Former Showrunner Steven Moffat makes an explosive return to the new series of Doctor Who as he writes an episode due to air in Ncuti Gatwa’s first season as the Fifteenth Doctor, which will simultaneously premiere across BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+, where available. Steven has been lauded for his work on Doctor Who, first writing on the show when Russell…
With a little more than a day left, we're literally down to the wire to raise funding for our Project Tapestry Kickstarter. The first stretch goal is within reach but we can't do it without your help.
Custom avatar slots are still available as a project add-on or you can help by boosting or writing about or linking to Project Tapestry one last time. Thank you!
We’re in the home stretch for Project Tapestry, so we’ve decided to sweeten the deal. Starting today there’s a new add-on available to all backers: Pixel Portraits! Add this item to your pledge, and one of the Iconfactory artists will create a hand-clicked pixel portrait of you, suitable for use as a social media avatar or whatever else you can think of. Head to the Kickstarter page for more info. Limited spots available, so don’t delay!
I had some questions about 360° video in Juno, so I took the weekend to look into it and wrote a little article about my findings and adventure. If you have any cool ideas or input, would love to hear! 🥽📺 https://christianselig.com/2024/02/trials-360-juno-video/
@christianselig I watch 180° and 360° 3DVR videos in Moon Player that I import to the Vision Pro devise through iCloud. I’m curious how it fits in with your experiments. I found out about it here, and the guy has a lot of 3DVR videos you can download to try.
Watching the first episode of Constellation. Reviews have been mixed. But it is absolutely riveting so far. The depictions of the ISS feel bizarrely perfect.
@glennf Just about to start. Again. Tried last night but I got so overwhelmed when the first infographic said “VINDELÄLVEN RIVER, NORTHERN SWEDEN.” That is the river I grew up by (and my parents still live by) and I was completely sucker-punched in to emotion.
@simonbs@harlan When I made a left turn in an intersection yesterday, I thought Vision Pro eye tracking would be a great tool for creating simulations to track how many pedestrians, bicyclists, etc., that drivers detect given environments of different city planning options.
