areyouevenreal,

I don’t think running out of O2 is in the cards. Poisoning ourselves in other ways sure. Turning land into desert also sure.

It’s not just about the cost though. They’re inferior to pretty much any other mid-range or high-end smartphone too. Expensive but good would be fine. Cheap and mediocre would be fine. Expensive and mediocre though? Nah.

My £250 used phone has a faster processor, more RAM, better screen (higher resolution, brighter, bigger and higher frame rate), and a higher capacity battery with faster charging. It’s a mid-range Xiaomi from a couple years ago, not a high end or flagship phone.

They should take notes from pinephone. Offers something unusual at a low cost. Since enthusiasts eat that stuff up you get extra help with software and ROMs too. Yes it’s low spec, but it’s good enough for enthusiasts to play with and is of good value as the price reflects the quality.

Switching distro without loosing data in /home

Is there a way to move distro without loosing data in /home? I am currently running Pop OS and want to move to Nix OS while keeping the data. Normally I could use an external hard drive or my server, but most of my equipment is in storage at the moment. Current partition setup is using LUKS and LVM with ext4. I am guessing there...

areyouevenreal,

There is a difference between hitting the p spot and becoming gay. You can put a finger or dildo up there, or get a girl to peg you without watching gay porn.

areyouevenreal,

Some jobs require more skill, and some workers are more skilled. You can’t get around that fact. That doesn’t mean anyone should be making poverty wages. I think it’s fair though that workers are paid more for learning skills. That can be either though paying them more at work, or paying them while they are in education. Note I don’t just mean free education, I mean actually giving them money to study. That’s the only way to make paying skilled and unskilled workers the same a fair system.

areyouevenreal,

Chickens are birds, aren’t they? Just like how penguins are birds, and unlike penguins they can actually fly short distances.

areyouevenreal,

I don’t think you understand why people even want socialism or what it means to be a socialist. Socialism states that we are oppressed by the ruling class which are the capitalists. According to most socialist doctrine the government is controlled in part or entirely by the capitalists.

But sure, let’s all form up into groups that either think only socialism works or only capitalism works and try to misapply these to sectors of the economy where they’ve already been proven not to work. That makes sense!

You also don’t know anything about socialist economics. There are many socialist economic theories, a whole toolkit. Socialism isn’t a single tool or a single group of people and ideas. Heck even capitalism has different variations, although less diverse than socialist ideology.

What you are talking about is hybrid economy which is also an ideology. You are also starting with the assumption that democracy is real and the government is acting in good faith. Neither of those are necessarily true especially if you live in the US.

areyouevenreal,

Even marxists don’t simplify the classes as much as that diagram suggests. It’s missing peasants, artisans and the petty bourgeois. It’s also never been as simple as capitalist vs working class. Capitalists regularly fight amongst themselves as do the working class. This whole idea of class struggle being the only struggle is so oversimplified it’s kinda silly.

I don’t think it’s honest to frame it in generational language either btw. Though that is a component of it.

Looking for a modern, usable Linux OS preferably immutable

I have been trying some of the immutable linux OSes because from what I understand they are more modern and feature better security and reliability. What I have found so far is shocking. Half of these don’t support my laptop (probably because it’s nvidia optimus). Some I tried like guix were very difficult to install,...

areyouevenreal,

The fun thing is this is just a consequence of how we write numbers. If you used base 12 1/3 would be 0.4. Obviously 0.4 + 0.4 + 0.4 in base 12 is 1.0, so 3 x 0.4 = 1

What’s even more fun is that things like 1/5 or 1/10 are recurring decimals in base 12.
