I wrote down some notes in an app yesterday, somewhere. Today I cant find them, nor can I recall where I wrote them.

Received an email from Google about upcoming changes to a couple of their cloud services.

First thing that I thought when I saw the subject in the inbox?

“Wonder if they’re announcing new ways in which they WONT delete all your stuff?”

Firecall X2.

1st was to clear a fallen tree on a fire trail.

2nd was back to the local Aldi with their faulty pressure switch that triggers their fire alarm.

Back to back jobs. 👍

Ahhh the marketeers are at it again. They have organised staff head shots to be done. They have given people three days notice. Everyone is to book their 5 minute slot via a shared excel sheet. I am unavailable on both the proposed days. They are getting jumpy because people arent booking in. They dont seem to understand that people might not WANT to have a head shot done.

@decryption you should read Neuromancer. It’s a seminal work. It’s not a long book and it’s easy to read. Recommended.

Shout out to @decryption and his daily newsletter The Sizzle. Today they deposited this little gem in my mailbox and now I want one.

Also, mate, if youre going to share these things from a dedicated URL, at least put some sort of indexer on there so we can browse all the memes it has. :-p

Me: signs up for new corp VDI instance and signs in.
Me: discovers that we cannot copy/paste to/from my local machine
Me: raises support case just in case it is actually a fault and not by design.
Support: this is by design and is required by company policy
Me: takes photo of VDI display contents on phone, attaches image to support ticket. Explains why the policy is pointless because it is trivially defeated and makes life harder for users/staff.
Support: it rubs the policy on its skin or it gets the hose again.

I am amazed that businesses and vendors still release websites that require popups to function.
