At least one person has been arrested for posting about the death of the oppressor President Raisi of Iran online, reports the Hengaw human rights org,
naming a citizen of Turkey, Akbar Yousefi of Malekan in East Azerbaijan province of Iran (same as the crash was in) having been arrested through a house raid after posting about the crash on Instagram and taken to the city's repression force "Intelligence" Department.
Charges currently unknown.

Hengaw also mention that Akbar Yousefi is a civil rights activist and was arrested also during the "Women! Life! Freedom!"-protests sparked by the Iran-theocracy's agents killing Jรฎna/Mahsa Amini.

You can only influence your post-death legacy while you are still alive, through the memory of your actions living on in those still remaining and those future generations potentially told too, through which also you live on in a way, for as long as that memory remains.
Make your choices in life such that your best wish won't have to be being forgotten as quickly as possible. There is no retroactive undo or retry, that we know of.

So, I was just at the dentist, whom I believe to be from some area currently under the Iran-regime, for a scheduled appointment and had to explain that I was very tired due to almost all night direct-following the events leading up to the confirmation of the death of the Butcher of Tehran, President Raisi, to which they shared with me and the nurse that they had followed it on radio news in the car to work "...and I was like WHEEEE!!! throws hands in the air, with widest smile".

Nice to see the people happy for a moment.

b9AcE,
@b9AcE@todon.eu avatar

@chriscoreline Prooobably not much will change.
The Vice President has already taken over and they held the first government meeting around the time that Raisi's death was publicly admitted, so now they have 50 days until they must hold a new presidential election according to the constitution, of course with the "Supreme" "Leader" having to give final approval as that is the form the theocracy takes.
Unless... something unplanned can always happen. There's always hope.

The latest from Doctors without Borders (MSF):
โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€
Unprecedented flooding in Brazil leaves hundreds dead and hundreds of thousands displaced

The extreme rainfall and flooding that hit the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul isolated and forced the evacuation of whole cities. Roads have been destroyed, bridges knocked out and the main airport, in the capital city of Porto Alegre, is indefinitely closed. More than 460 state municipalities, out of a total of 497, have been hit.

โ€œThe situation is catastrophic. When we arrived and travelled through the region by helicopter, we were able to view the towns from above and noticed that in some cases we couldn't even see the roofs of houses,โ€ says Rachel Soeiro, Mรฉdecins Sans Frontiรจres (MSF) medical coordinator in Brazil, emphasizing the unprecedented flooding in Brazil.

The disaster has taken a massive human toll. According to provisional data, more than 150 people died and about 100 are still unaccounted for. Many people are without water, electricity and basic services. More than two million people were impacted and over 600,000 have been displaced. [...]

There's that old saying "Kurds have no friends but the mountains", although I think it's pretty well disproven by the general public worldwide by now,
so that made me think it was appropriate that after Raisi persecuted in particular the Kurds residing under the Iran-theocracy, Raisi was apparently killed by... a mountain.

@ayoub Hmm.
Merriam-Webster:
"martyr, 2: a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle"
Soo, nope, a helicopter accident does not make someone a "martyr", except possibly https://todon.eu/@b9AcE/112471462033585346 the helicopter if it sacrificed itself for the sake of principle.

I guess they just really, really have martyr complex.

@Tooden Yeah, but also rain (previously heavy but subsiding) leading to reportedly very difficult muddy conditions making searching on foot difficult and most land vehicles probably same or worse. so would need air and then must have night-vision at the moment, which apparently was a problem.
Well, EU said it sent an offer of access to surveillance sattelite imagery to search the area for Raisi and team, according to Reuters, but that may be diplomatically difficult.

I dunno.

b9AcE,
@b9AcE@todon.eu avatar

@Tooden Yeah, I was thinking along those lines too.
It would be embarrassing to a regime like that, I suppose, if it got out that they had just given up immediately and gone home because of rain and mud, so may be just putting on a show until enough time has passed to be able to declare a through and valiant effort, or something.

Especially authoritarian regimes value perceived "prestige" above possibly anything else, so its opposite, embarrassment, is unacceptable and probably considered a risk of encouraging a liberatory uprising again.

Iran's covert longtime ally Turkey believes it has found the helicopter crashed with President oppressor Raisi of Iran, using a drone, here https://osm.org/go/zRcOJFbkN near the village Dizaj-e Tavil https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dizaj-e_Tavil and has sent that information to Iran according to Turkey's primary State-propaganda outlet Anadolu Ajansฤฑ.

In response to the people's widespread expressions of joy online over the death of the president of Iran, the "Iranian Cyber Police", a.k.a. "FATA", threatens that "we are carefully monitoring cyberspace" and warns to not publish "any content that in any way provokes and disturbs public sentiments", by which they presumably mean joy over the death of a mass-murder and mass-torture responsible oppressor.
