Had a bowl of “sliced noodle” during heavy rain yesterday. Such a comfort, can’t go too easy with that chilli oil.

If you happened to be in Kuala Lumpur, please stop by Kampung Baru, which is walking distance from KLCC via Pintasan Saloma. Here you could sample local food & dishes on the heavier side.

I recently went there for late supper, so I had this plate of mixed rice at a (of course!) eatery, Kedai Kak Som. I’ve been patronizing the establishment for as long as I can remember back in 2000s. The soy sauce beef is to go for!

barium,

@ubi couldn’t agree more. & it’s not just focused in one area, although it seems like it, but you could find good food all over Kampung Baru!

Over the weekend, sampled “lontong darat” which is Johorean dish of which rice cake wrapped & cooked in banana leaf, then sliced & served with “sambal jawa”, coconut sambal, beef & jerky peanut gravy.

Who said I only eat local/Kelantanese food?? How about this bowl of ramen or “mee celup” in my local tounge 🤣
on pause.

Beautiful sunrise over the weekend at Port Dickson. Rarely got a chance to enjoy sunrise nowadays let alone at beautiful settings with time to spare. So I took my time, sample all little things that we usually took for granted.

Sure Anwar's government is not perfect. I even give this Madani unity government so much leeway because why? Because I want this Madani government to succeed. Because the alternative is unthinkable. They’ve got their work cut out for them. How do they win against parties that have no qualms abusing race and religion to win votes? By fixing the economy and reducing poverty and with good governance

barium,

@afif preach brother!

Rainy day dictate soupy meal of some sort, how about like this bowl of “bihun celup”? 😋

barium,

@johnb48 it loosely translated to “dipped vermicelli”, where you dipped the noodle in hot soup first before putting it in the bowl with other condiments, then the soup will be poured in, & taste to your liking. It taste as wonderful as it looks, if not better!

Had after quite sometime due to merajuk with the place. Not in picture: a plate of chicken 65 that worth every ringgit paid.

Jemput makan fam!

barium,

@rakyat fortunately no, RM18 but I consider it pricey still. But the taste makes you “tak marah sangat” so ok la i guess

barium,

@rakyat share the plate with my colleague, ok lahhhh

I owe you guys an toot, so here goes:

Hello ! My name is Sai, & Barium is my online persona. Based in Shah Alam, , I write codes for living, usually web apps. I’m currently attached to a 360 digital agency in Kuala Lumpur, leading a team of tech personnel.

I enjoy travelling, trying out eateries, chilled surroundings & cats. I like to think myself like a multirole jet fighter; flexible & deadly when locked in focus.

Find me in

barium,

@ubi its all boiled down to what u enjoy actually, this is very subjective. But for myself, I found myself keep on going to:

  • Hatinie, S10
  • Warung Ambo, TTDI Jaya
  • BBQ Town, Central Walk i-City
  • Kopi Pokok, S6
  • Paramount Kopitiam, Sunsuria Forum

There are a lot of places to try around S13, like Hassan Ayam Kampung or Cafe Lorong. Clearly I haven’t explore Shah Alam that much though I really love to do so.

Rojak keropok lekor, because, why not.

“Keropok Lekor” is one of Malaysia’s favorite snack made with fish & flour, then turn into long cylindrical shape before boiled & deep-fried. The dish originated from east coast of Malaysia, particularly Terengganu & Kelantan, having some slight variation of shape between those two.

Jemput makan my fam!

barium,

@geraineon lekor is this thick type of keropok. The thin one we just called it keropok 😅 Later I shall make a dedicated post about the varieties.

Crowned as “breakfast of the gods” by the late Anthony Bourdain, this Sarawak’s laksa, I agree that it has rich taste profile packed with umami, but I must say I’ve tasted better breakfast 😋

Alas, taste is very subjective matter, what works for you not necessarily behaving the same with others. At the meantime, lets enjoy the diversity & sample each other’s culture!

Makans my fellow fam!

barium,

@liztai another tragedy would be knocked your 16oz tumbler filled with coffee during morning rush hour, & spilled it on the floor mat but you can’t do anything until you safely parked the car 😭

But hey, I wish you’ll find your Sarawak laksa soon, you makes me want a bowl myself!
