On a personal note - this is my first birthday where only one of my parents are is still alive to celebrate and it has me thinking about how important now is. Now is what we have and whatever it is that we most want from life - really we have to fight against the temptation to let it drift to later and focus on bringing as much of our favorite people and experiences into our now as often as we can.

This is more challenging for me than it should be - I tend to medicate my current dissatisfactions by dreaming of how good things will be at some future point - but my focus for this year is on ruthlessly removing procratination and dragging as many of my future hopes and experiences into now as quickly as I can - so they can be enjoyed for as many nows as possible.

In January, a few minutes before my Dad's funeral started, I messaged my therapist to thank him for spending 7 years helping me work through and heal the scars from my childhood. I realized sitting there that I had already dealt with the baggage, and all that was left was gratitude and sadness...

During the funeral service, as I was listening to my kids talk, it occurred to me that my kids are a lot like me - but much freer - they don't have a lot of the baggage I carried already at their age - and I realized I owed my therapist another thank you note.
We all come from different places and have different things to overcome, but our own growth and healing are maybe the most important works we engage in as humans.

@JustBrogrammer thanks Kirk! Last year in January I decided to start running as close to daily as possible - beginning with 4 miles a day on the treadmill and eventually ended up with 1600 for the year and ran 3 half’s just for fun. It was a huge increase for me - and by the time winter came around - I had found a running group and they just kept running outside. I had to invest in some gear - but I’ve come to love it too! My treadmill is lonely in the basement hoping for rainy days.

@JustBrogrammer changed my stride (was a horrible heal striker) this year and have been managing the change in my calves all year. Getting injured and having to take a week or two off is the worst.

Ok starting season 3 of Star Wars Rebels and it is way better than I thought. I only remember an episode with Thrawn where he was like an idiot and I never gave it a real chance.
Mistakes possibly were made.
Bad Batch really surprised me too. Timeline order has been great and beats doing the MCU timeline order again.
