The usual sentence for Trump's crime in New York is 1 and 1/3 to 4 years probation.

Imagine Donald Trump on probation. You know what can happen if a felon violates probation. And the Secret Service will be right there to turn him over to New York State Police.

OTOH maybe all he would have to do is avoid committing obvious crimes in public.

I would like to give an example of how Logical Fate (or Logical Destiny) works.

Suppose we accept the premise—nowadays widely held without evidence—that Jesus was "a non-white Jewish Palestinian".

Then, by deduction:

  1. Jesus and Ashkenazi Jews (who are "white") are not closely related.

  2. Judaism was his religion but not his ethnicity, which was "Palestinian".

  3. As these things are true because Jesus is selected from the crowd, they are true of Galileans and Judeans generally.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

By further deduction:

  1. Ashkenazi Jews are not descendants of exiled inhabitants of Israel.

After this point one could in principle go many ways, but in practice one will gradually go the way of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and Mein Kampf. It is a ready-made logical structure into which all this fits, and from which the notion must have sprung.

Related is this notion that the Italian masters painted a "white guy Jesus" unlike the real Jesus...

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

What is unrealistic about this Jesus is he looks like he hasn't gotten any sun and that his hair isn't done up in a Jewish way at all. But, otherwise, there is no reason at all to think a Jew wouldn't have resembled an Italian.

It is prejudice against Jews that leads people to imagine it is otherwise.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

Logical Fate refers to how our destinies are determined by the logical consequences of our premises. If you choose premises that are prejudiced against Jews, then you are fated to become prejudiced against Jews.

Furthermore, because, in a logical structure, it is arbitrary which are the premised factoids and which the deduced, it does not matter that you have not accepted "Jews are a parasite race" as your premise. You will tend toward similar results.

@MikeBon Me in summer in New Jersey when I was thirteen. I am 3/4 Ashkenazi Jew and the rest is a mix of New England blue bloods and Irish.

But of course the chose an Italian-American to play Monk's lookalike brother, and Monk is played by a Levantine. Tony Shalhoub's actual brother appears in an episode and has a huge "Arab" nose. But so did Abraham Sofaer, who was a Baghdadi Jew. :)

Isaac Mizrahi is of Middle Eastern Jewish ancestry BTW, as his name implies.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@MikeBon I suppose Jesus might be light at Pesach time, but he was outdoors an awful lot, and it was at lower latitudes.

Today is a big day... getting my gas range replaced with induction. Chuffed, as they say.

Used to live in a place with one, then had to switch to gas, and let me tell you, it's real hard to go back to anything else after induction, but especially gas.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@bluegreenandfree I do not like induction, which I had in the 1990s, but do like the kind that has electric coils underneath plate glass. That's what we have now. I do not remember what they call it. It's like a hard glass countertop that you can selectively heat. But it does get hot.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@bluegreenandfree They might glorify it as "infrared". :) It's electric coils not in direct contact with the pot.

A new epoxy clock face just poured, with Hyacinth on the computer. (This is essentially an electronics workbench but serves multiple purposes.)

chemoelectric,

Notice that the two tubes in the preamplifier (lit in blue LED) are heated amber. These are low voltage tubes. I forget what the power supply is. At most 24V. This is better sound than the monitor itself gives. I'm not into "home theater", etc.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

And I have, frankly, gotten too old for high fidelity to even matter. My hearing isn't good enough to distinguish very good from excellent, good from very good, etc. I couldn't tell you which of my Grado headphones I was listening through.

chemoelectric,

The tinnitus is constantly loud now.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

And I cannot take even the tactile stimulus of loud bass, without folding into fetal position due to hypersensitivity.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

Yesterday I molded a clock face but I do not like it. It is pearly moss green swirl, with gold flakes, and a fluorescent background.

This one will be sparkly white pearl with multicolored specks, predominantly black.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

Maybe I will cut wood for the tics. Or else fill the indentations with epoxy or plaster.

Watch for it: They'll say not all Gazans are Hamas—the Gazan leadership—but imply all Israelis are the Israeli leadership.

And they will do this even though the Gazan leadership started this war and are amongst the dregs of the earth—hostage takers.

I take no sides. I do not need the tsuris. I am not Israeli and have no Israeli relatives. I stay uninvolved. If you call me an "ilk", you do so either because I am a Jew or because I have pointed out that YOU are an "ilk" and you do not like it.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@alter_kaker Anyway, that is part of the point of role reversal: it forces one NOT to neglect "external" factors that matter.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@alter_kaker Have you noticed that the "in" thing is that Jesus was not REALLY a Jew?

He was a NON-WHITE Palestinian "Jew". In other words, not related to Ashkenazi Jews. Actually related to the other guys, who are utterly different from Ashkenazi Jews.

They do this trick even though it is the Levant, and the peoples there share lineage with Jews, of which Ashkenazim are a pure line. That butcher Assad comes from the Syrian working classes and is a "white" guy with bright blue eyes.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@alter_kaker Of course they and we actually do not know what Jesus looked like, except that it could not have been out of the ordinary. Any particular descriptions given are symbolic.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@alter_kaker One cannot argue with observations, however. Look around and see the neat trick, whereby Jesus is declared a "non-white Jewish Palestinian".

(Christianity and Islam not yet existing, of course.)

This is very popular, and people simply sign onto it, despite the obvious fact no one has a clue what Jesus looked like. This description of Jesus was simply made up out of thin air as a work of Jew-othering.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@alter_kaker I am not one to stop with an observation. I will deduce from it, as Sherlock Holmes would.

We can deduce the following from the "Jesus was a non-white Jewish Palestinian" fad:

  1. There is an implicit labeling of Palestinians as non-white (and let us agree Ashkenazi Jews are considered "white", though, e.g., Isaac Mizrahi looks "white").

  2. The ancient inhabitants of Galilee (and presumably Judea) are assumed to have been Palestinians.

  3. Judaism was merely Jesus's religion.
