I have noticed that only the threat of imminent jail got Trump to use surrogates to bypass the gag orders. Anything less and he violated the orders himself.

This is an argument in favor of giving Trump prison time, as nothing less than prison time will get a point across to him.

Pundits absolutely do not grasp the fact that Trump's trial's value does NOT rest on whether or not it "moves voters" if he's convicted.

The VALUE is accountability.

The VALUE is a working system of law that functions--regardless of whom the person happens to be or what position that person holds.

Treating it like "no biggie" because voters APPEAR unmoved is great messaging -- for Trump.

@dangillmor An ethics code is supposed to be mandatory, so this implies journalism outfits should all be kicked out of the SPJ. :) No doubt this is part of why an OpenAI can exist.

(I know SPJ says their "code" is actually a list of non-mandatory things-that-sound-ethics-code-like.)

@HamonWry The penalty for a Class E felony is USUALLY probation, without prison.

Secret Service's work is EASIER to do in a secure place such as a prison, though.

(The absolute most Trump could get is 20 years in prison. He will get nothing like that.)

@br00t4c This leaves out the probably important point that the "fifth element" crimes are FEDERAL crimes, not New York crimes, but that this is supposed to be within what the law means.

If it weren't, that law might be pretty toothless, to be frank. Just make sure to pay in New York for crimes elsewhere!

And I remember the National Inquirer specifically testifying (to paraphrase) "What we did was a crime", and Cohen making clear he was being retained as a "fixer", not as a lawyer.

Did anyone with #Covid get a ton of rashes you can’t explain?

Nothing gets rid of them.

Plenty of other symptoms but this is one that doctors always blame on allergies.

My hair also got intensely dry to the point where it didn’t need washing for 3 weeks. There was no sebum! I had to oil it & leave it in for a week even after using a very rich conditioning treatment.

My nose would also not stop bleeding.

I’m about 2 months into my second infection. Already have #LongCovid.

There is a condition called "chronic hives" or "chronic urticaria". It involves rashes that come and go with no explanation, and is very common.

@halcionandon I suspect a lot of "long covid" is stuff like fibromyalgia being triggered by the bout of COVID.

I already had fibromyalgia since I was born, probably, before I (eventually) caught COVID. So I was simply way more beaten down than usual for a while. :)

I am myopic. Nearsightedness does have this advantage! One does not need reading glasses, because one already has the equivalent built in.

But I made it only to age 38 without the need to have bifocals to read through my glasses.

I rediscovered a piece of cherry wood with a huge knot I had partly filled with SigWong epoxy and daisies. As I am using up my SigWong epoxy in favor of other brands, I decided to fill it more.

At the same time, I am making labels for some of my tool bags. Previously I had used UV resin (acrylic in particular) for these labeling jobs, but UV lamps irritate my bout of hives. This will take longer, though.

A small tray with feet or handles being cast. 15 by 25 cm. The whole thing will be made of FGCI Liquid Glass Deep Pour 24 Hour epoxy, with pigments in Morandi colors added.

The feet sagged during casting, but I straightened them by running hot tapwater over them to heat them past their glass transition temperature, then bending them straight... (cont'd)

There, we poured some of the into a rather imperfect bottle I recently cast from an I was not fond of and wished to use up. Now I shall try this ink to see if I prefer it to Noodler's "Cayenne". Pilot makes excellent black and blue-black inks, after all, so maybe the red is very good, too. (Cayenne is easily the best red for my rubrication needs of those I have used so far.)

This face is full of bubbles because the fast-curing was already warm from the reaction when I added the pigment and poured. The result was too good to throw away and I decided it would make a nice clock face. I painted on the hours in unblended Winsor & Newton Galeria acrylics colors, using polar graph paper taped to the back as a guide.

@LindaCollins11 They got Trump to "promise" to release a particular drug dealer, for instance.

Unless things have changed, they want all money to be in precious metals. Which, of course, means among other things that counterfeiting and chiseling would be rampant. But they have a "theory" of what money "is", said "theory" being entirely wrong.

(Bitcoin is based on an equally wrong variant of the same "theory".)

Here is the first time I cast one of these little "make-up brush cups", as I call them, in epoxy without numerous bubbles. I used Sanaaa resin, thus it has a faint blue tinge, despite there being no pigment added.

My trick was a combination of repeatedly dropping the mold like dough (a very common technique in all kinds of mold casting) and scraping the parts where I know the bubbles collect, using a popsicle stick (but other devices would work).
