I'm trying to reach the kids on Bluesky that Mastodon is better, but alas, I think it's a lost cause. I think both platforms attract different personalities. Mastodon isn't really for people who want a Twitter replacement imo. It's for people who want something better.

I really liked the space they were in at the end of The Final Hurrah. I wish they would have stayed there a bit longer before going into Pillow Jets, but it was a nice segue. I was happy to be there for the Phish debut of Pillow Jets. I like that one a lot, and think it could really develop nicely as a jam vehicle for this band.

So my personal take is still that I don't give a fuck about the success or failure of bluesky and I don't see Mastodon's success or failure as something relative to either that or Twitter. It's either worth being here or it isn't.

There's an artificial conception of this as a competitive zero sum game buried as an unquestioned assumption in most discussions of this. That's an artifact of investor capitalism which doesn't necessarily apply to the non profit driven Fediverse.
