clothes,

The lack of vacuum relight is really interesting - I thought that was the biggest barrier to a “real” orbital flight with a payload that can start offsetting development costs.

But yes, everything else about this flight plan is exciting!

clothes,

I assumed optics would force them to replace the part, even if there wasn’t an engineering reason to do so. Glad I was wrong!

A small RCS leak feels like something that can be compensated for in software.

clothes,

From the Ars Technica article on the subject:

The space agency did not describe what options are on the table, but sources said they range from flying the spacecraft “as is” with a thorough understanding of the leak and confidence it won’t become more significant in flight, to removing the capsule from its Atlas V rocket and taking it back to a hangar for repairs.

Theoretically, the former option could permit a launch attempt as soon as next week. The latter alternative could delay the launch until at least late summer.

Late summer! Ouch. Sounds like that’s based on ISS parking spot availability.

clothes,

Darn. I hope it’s a quick fix and we don’t have to deal with weeks of doomerism.

clothes,

Correct, here’s a guide to enabling Wayland.

I’ve never had OP’s problem, but another avenue I’d consider is to set display settings in the nvidia-settings app, which can be opened with a GUI from the terminal. These settings are separate from those in the normal settings menu, in ways I don’t totally understand.

clothes,

Under one of the options, astronauts would launch into low-Earth orbit inside an Orion spacecraft and rendezvous there with a Starship vehicle, separately launched by SpaceX…The crew would then return to Earth.

Prudent to test these capabilities, but ouch.

clothes,

I’ve had luck with Proton GE as a solution to cutscene problems on several games.

clothes,

Darn. You may already be aware of it, but ProtonDB is an excellent resource. People share their experiences with specific games, and quite often someone will have found a workaround for problems.

(Sorry for the delayed response, my app didn’t alert me)

clothes,

Looks way more capable than the PineTime, which is awesome. But there’s no way the blood pressure sensor is reliable, right?

clothes,

I expected to roll my eyes at this article but it’s actually quite compelling and well written. The Kagi website’s lack of nuanced privacy discussion already turned me off, and now I’m just going to pretend the service doesn’t exist.

clothes,

Just letting you know that the Lemmy.World stickies are broken again, and we’re still seeing Development Thread . I posted a link over there.

I don’t think there’s anything you or I can do about it. Took me a while to realize what was happening.

As always, thanks for these updates! They are very much appreciated even when I don’t actively engage. Additionally, I keep meaning to thank you for posting Nitter links for as long as you could. You’re awesome :)

clothes,

I think you’ve fixed it! Right now the stickies are this thread and the 7-18 bulletin :)

Responding to your comment on thread : your early-April comment announcing this thread didn’t appear until I clicked on the link in your reply today. My click seems to have pulled it over. Which seems like a really strange federation issue, given that all your other comments seem to appear in world. Though I guess I wouldn’t know?

If I get a chance this weekend I’ll try to compare some World threads to Sh.itjust.works ones and let you know what I find!

clothes,

I remember feeling stunned about how limited the HLS test was going to be. So much effort and money to NOT test critical systems? I hope they keep adding elements.

clothes,

Thanks for posting this!

I just bought Ragnarock for full price, but thankfully can still refund it.

Ragnarock is incredible, for anyone who hasn’t tried it!

clothes,

Cool! Looks almost ideal. Is max-q the acceleration drop at one minute?

clothes,

That fog cleared fast!

clothes,

As much as I’d like for those rotations to be intentional, for now I’m assuming they didn’t relight because they lost orientational control.

clothes,

The launch window for the nearly 400-foot-tall (121-meter) rocket opens at 7 am CDT (12:00 UTC) Thursday and extends for 110 minutes.

clothes,

I was really confused about what type of cross section I was looking at, but the second response gave a helpful diagram.

clothes,

That’s so soon!! I can’t decide whether Pi Day is a coincidence here. Probably? The 4/20 thing has me permanently suspicious.

clothes,

hasspacexreceivedtheift3launchlicensemodification…

Hah. Only slightly embarrassed by how useful this is to me.

clothes,

For those on Lemmy.World, the stickied thread isn’t updating properly. Here is the new development thread: Starship Development Thread

clothes,

Woo progress!

I’m surprised that fuel slosh wasn’t mentioned in relation to the booster filter problem. “Crazy slosh from hot-staging” seemed like a very convincing theory a few months ago. I guess this means hot-staging is here to stay.

clothes,

~3 weeks (Elon time)

I reallyyy thought we were at 2 weeks (Elon time) and now I’m sad. Exciting to be inching closer though!
