reports that Commission President von der Leyen has at several occasions addressed the European Horse Network (EHN), but these meetings are missing in VDL’s public calendar and her log of meetings with 🤔

EHN isn’t in the EU register 🚫

corporateeurope,

It's a major fail that didn't disclose her meetings with the European Horse Network (EHN), a lobby group of horse owners 🚨

VDL's meetings also violated EU rules because EHN wasn't in the EU register, despite requests from the register secretariat 🤯

A majority of MEPs have voted to scrap any safety measures on new GMOs, which is a real setback for Europe’s food system. This would only serve the interests of corporations like Bayer and Syngenta who have pushed for this for many years. These corporations’ sole aim is to further squeeze out farmers with expensive patented seeds.

corporateeurope,
@corporateeurope@mstdn.social avatar

The few silver linings are that the EP voted in favor of mandatory consumer labelling of NGT products, a basic form of traceability and a safeguard clause for when safety issues arise. Labelling and traceability are key demands by gm-free farmers, consumers and environmental groups.

The EU Commission will publish its thinking on 'essential use'. This will help determine whether industry can carry on contaminating consumer products (such as childcare articles and textiles) with hazardous substances, or whether such chemicals should only be used when deemed essential and when no safe alternatives exist.
