Am impatiently checking courier tracking this morning. I invested in a new yarn swift this month, as my current one no longer holds it's shape and won't hold yarn anymore.
Back from the dentist. Three weeks ago I had Covid, which kicked off tooth pain, now I need two extractions and a root canal. Will cost a fortune. Dentist tells me major tooth problems caused by Covid are commonplace.
Hmm, something fishy going on with our solar power. If you look around 12pm it would appear, for reasons I do not understand, that we are exporting our power to the grid at $0.13, and then buying it back at $0.29
I really need to find some way to protect my iMac from my cat Rosie.
Multiple times a day she is smooching up against it and pushing it around. When I found my computer this morning, it had been rotated 90˚C, and the monitor was angled.
The current government is moving more public money into private hands, rolling back climate crisis mitigations, bicultural partnership, equality of opportunity et al.
We need opposition pledges to reverse these changes.
If opposition parties jointly announce that they will end these travesties, the private sector's interest in participating will be significantly reduced.
Instead of railing against the government, perhaps I should be petitioning the opposition?
I just finished reading "A fellowship of bakers and magic" by J. Penner. The book was good, but it was missing a spark of magic that would make it amazing.
The premise sounded great, which was Great British Bake Off meets cozy fantasy, but it felt like the heart of the book was missing.
I just checked, and it was self published. I think a good editor might have made it an even better book. #bookstodon
@MsHearthWitch I'm an unpublished writer of fantasy/sci fi, and have a lot of friends who have self published. A great editor who does a lot of work in the genre, makes all the difference.
The book was good, maybe a 3 star, but the spark to make it a great book was missing.
A Wizards Guide is on my TBR list, I can't wait to read it.
@MsHearthWitch Yes, I agree completely. Beta readers are equally important as they can tell the writer important stuff like that. I've been a beta reader for lots of my writing friends, and also a judge in writing contests for the Romance Writers of New Zealand.
OMG, are you me? I also have depression, and my will to write died during covid.
