Thinking about expectations after I came across some negative reviews of #StarWars The Acolyte. I like it so far … but I also loved the original trilogy.

See, when the 2nd trilogy came out, I felt it was just terrible. (That hasn't changed, everything hinges on Padme falling in love with that little kid, which holy fuck just no.)

The 3rd trilogy I did watch but I found it utterly forgettable. The Filoni shows tend to start out good but then just make everything feel small and mere fan service.

#Loupedeck Live S, first impressions after 2h of dicking around:

• Solid build. Prefer it over my SD Mk1.
• No actual keys, just a touch screen with a plastic grid on top. Works for me
• The macOS software is …not great. That icon browser is kinda bad: random (!) icon order, search doesn't find all the icons even though they're there.
• When you visually set up a key by choosing an icon and an overlaid text, the whole thing will be rendered. Want to change the text? Please start over, lol

Ich gestehe, dass mich viele humoristischen #FlutTakes schon amüsieren, aber halt auf einer abstrakten Schiene.

Wenn Du Dein Habe ans Wasser verloren hast, ist das furchtbar, und ich fühle mit jeder Person, der das passiert ist.

Aber eine “Klimaschutz gern, aber bitte doch nicht hier!”-Landesregierung zu sehen, die es NICHT FASSEN kann, dass IHR Bundesland plötzlich hilfsbedürftig ist, das löst schon Schadenfreude aus, auf die ich nicht stolz bin, die aber verdient ist.

Cut and edited a short 1-min explainer video with both CapCut and DaVinci Resolve. Not sure which one I like better.

CapCut is slick, streamlined, very easy to grasp – and decidedly un-Mac-like. The app menu is a joke, the keyboard shortcuts are weird, and it's basically a black box.

Resolve is a 1st class macOS citizen. Clean, polished, yet way too powerful/pro at first glance, even in the pleb/hobbyist edition I'm using. Hmm.

CapCut has strong "your data, lol" vibes, though. Resolve, then?

Today’s reductionist cleanup (“this is good enough”): Weather apps.

After 3 years, Carrot is out. The built-in Apple Weather app has improved enough by now to be good, and combined with Yr (Norwegian app for local Scandinavian weather) it's a mix that's working just fine.

🧵 Biggest “surprise” of the last day? Being able to just push out a beta for my new macOS app without waiting for App Review or s/th is GREAT.

I mean, sure: The App Store is nice because it's well-integrated with Xcode (15, especially!), and takes care of hosting/ delivering/ payments/ IAP handling etc. Ace!
