If I want to transcribe every new audio file that appears in a folder on my Mac using (Mac)Whisper and then run the transcription through a LLM using Ollama to clean it up, what are my best options? Do I have to write some Python code myself or is the readymade tools for this?

DEVONthink 3.8.3 just arrived in the App Store with bug fixes, most prominently for a crash on launch on devices with very large databases. It also fixes an anomaly on some devices where the toolbar buttons would be rendered extremely small. https://buff.ly/3RkxRo3

Tip of the day: If you use a Mac and an iPad at the same time, Universal Control allows you to control both devices from a single keyboard and mouse or trackpad. You can use both devices perfectly together while retaining their individual capabilities. Here we’ll show you this feature. https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20231128-use-universal-control

Many people use Markdown documents, citing the ability to make global edits to the formatting. In DEVONthink, similar global edits in the formatting are possible in rich text documents as well. Here is, how that works. https://buff.ly/4atTNna

Tip of the day: Apple’s Reminders is a great application for keeping track of what’s done and what still needs to be done. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could create a reminder for items in #DEVONthinkToGo? Tip of the day: When working in #DEVONthink, it is not unusual to have more than one database open, navigating back and forth between groups. As you open, close, create, and edit documents, it’s not uncommon to eventually lose track of something. Fortunately, smart groups can help corral these files. #pkm #productivity #tipoftheday #workflow https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20220712-todays-files-devonthink

Found Tony Romella & feel that he gets me. Even his vault is organised like mine! A totally underrated Youtuber with an ADHD bent.
ND folks do think very differently. For eg, I just can't do Tiago Forte's PARA system. I have this "out of sight out of mind" thing we folks seem to have. If I stash my files in a folder, I forget it even exists. It gets worse if there are subfolders. Like Tony, I have a hybrid system & use notebooks. Coincidence?

It's funny how I wanted be my everything at first. I used it as a task manager, project manager etc. Now I've moved work-related stuff out of my vault. Now use my co's Confluence to store project & meeting notes for my knowledge base, and my tasks in Todoist.
My vault can now focus on what Obsidian does best - a note taking app for my passions rather than a productivity tool.

Tip of the day: Many people use tags as a way to add some context to their documents. We have blogged on the subject more than once, but one option some people may not be aware of is nested (or hierarchical) tags. These are tags with child tags, or related tags within tags. Here’s how you can make and use them in . https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20220809-nested-tags

Tip of the day: We have had some requests from people that want to use only for capturing data, not for carrying databases around with them. They just want to capture, sync, then clean out the mobile database. Our sync is a mirroring sync, so this isn’t possible on its own. However, it is possible if you’re refiling the items on another device. https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20210709-devonthink-only-for-capture

Decades ago I floated between Things, OmniFocus, and Org mode. Neither commercial app (both very good!) could ever work EXACTLY how I wanted—which is crucial for PKM/GTD....

But I'LL HAVE TO LEARN EMACS LISP...!

It was worth it.

Thank goodness I was far enough along in career and life to see the long view.

If you're in a career where building your own tools matters at all, here is the secret: INVEST IN CUMULATIVE INCREMENTAL GAINS OVER THE LONG TERM
